If anyone needs a good idea to kick off an adventure, then I suggest watching Eight legged freaks. *IT ROCKS* anyways..all the stats for the beasties are in the book.. need I say more?

I agree that ELF was a good movie but I have one problem with it. Why was the spiders the only thing affected by the pollution? Being closer to the waste, the insects and arachnids around the pond would be affected first and there would more then just gigantic spiders.

Modern and Movies

Nearly any action movie or slasher movie can be used as a D20 Modern adventure. However, not too many provide cool monsters to fight. Eight Legged Freaks is a good source for inspiration. Here are some other suggestions from off the top of my head.

Independance Day
Terminator
Predator
Army of Darkness
Jurassic Park

Also, here are some movies that work well as either Modern or Call of Cthulhu adventure.

Friday the 13th
Nightmare on Elmstreet
Hell raiser
13 Ghosts
Signs
The Others

END COMMUNICATION

Zardoz, great minds think alike it seems. Some people have already jumped on a few of your suggestions:

This thread has fan-made stats for Jason from the Friday the 13th movies: http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33953

Superbly-done fan-made supplements for Terminator and Army of Darkness are already available for free download at Talien's Tower, with more supplements for other movies (such as Predator) coming soon. Click here: http://members.toast.net/talien/freebies.html

If you're talking about the FM Puppet Master, I'm intersted. Is there any chance of you doing a Sub Species or Trancers D20 adaption? Those are my favorite FM series

Back on topic, using minis for ELF would be easy to do. Go to you're local Dollar store or toy store and you'll find bags of spiders that would work. And if you want a giant spider, there use to be a line of models called gigantics that would work. I have almost a dozen of them, seven spiders and 4 scorpions, I bought off Ebay very cheaply.:)

Yep Full Moon's Puppetmaster is the one we are doing.. Sub species rocked...

Our only delay with puppetmaster is to figure out which time line we should follow, since retro puppetmaster changed it all and puppet master vs.demonic toys is about to be released

the owner of the spiders was collecting a specific insect from the pond (I forget his name and the type of insects)...the toxic waste could have had a synergistic effect with a chemical inside the insects body to create a substance that would enhance the growth of certain creatures...

And thus, the spiders grew and nothing else did...though there could have been another creature that would be effected similarly...would lead to an interesting sequal...

maybe a lizard, then we could have an american giant, toxic lizard...
