I found some old mix tapes today. Some are over 20 years old, and they still play. I made them for "moods" when I was in high school and college. I found several that I'd made for dating and "parking" while on dates. The very first notes of "Rainbow Eyes" by Blackmore's Rainbow have stopped my working from home in its tracks while I tumble backwards through the years to warm Spring evenings on deserted back roads, star filled skies, and April's symphonies of the night with a girl named Dawn.

Damned memories.

That road is closed for me now. I had tons of mix tapes for moods, for gaming, for dates etc. Recently my wife and I were doing a large scale purge of crap we've moved over and over and yet has not been touched in years. I found all these tapes and realized I don't even have a cassette player anymore. Made them all pretty pointless, so into the trash they went. Except for the gaming mixes, most of them were whiny, depressing things anyway - a pretty decent reflection of my teenage years - good riddance.

At my sisters birthday party, she started talking about high school and the people we knew. She couldn't remember the name of one of the people she was thinking of so my family made me dredge out the yearbooks. Oy.
Don't get me started on High School yearbooks. Not only did they not order enough leaving me the only guy in the class without one, but they put the WRONG NAME under my picture. >_<

Ummm......Maxim does have articles!

I love maxim articals
"How to survive in the wilds with only a pocket knife."
"3 ways to kill a man with your bare hands"
"How to take a punch"

If I want Pwn the internet is easier.
but for shots of testosterone.... its not bad.
not enough to get me to buy it though.

I didn't find a mix tape (or CD) but...

On a lark, I was flipping through the CD collection we keep in the car, and I put in an old Blink 182 live CD that I bought when I was in college, shortly after breaking up with a longterm girlfriend....boy did that rocket me back in time a few years. It was bizarre...when the pop/punk guitar started, I could have sworn for a moment that I could *smell* my old dorm room, and I could almost see Team Fortress Classic (a videogame) appear before my eyes.

Good times! Good times!

On an ancillary note: Someone should really set up a resort where you can relive your idealized memories of college. You're all over 21 now, but there'd still be a staged attempt every night to sneak a beer keg in past the RA's, or to smuggle some hard liquor into a student lounge past the deskworkers.

There'd be videogame/lan parties, etc. - all the stuff you remember as being good....none of the stuff you refuse to remember (because it sucked). I think it'd sell like hot cakes! Hot cakes!

Playboy August 1987... :D

I didn't have access to such contemporary pornography. My dad's stash in the attic (which my sister and I found) was all circa 1970. So, it was very "disco" IYKWIMAITYD.
