Elan Transformation PrC

Evilhalfling

Adventurer
Elans have to start at first level? and they have memories but no skills or feats? The only way it makes sense to me is if they have no memories of thier past life at all. The text is unclear. But what if an adventurer is selected for the path of the Elan ?
What if his or her mind is strong enough last through the transformation.

Elan Transformation Prestige Class
Requirements:
Must be human.
Psicraft 8 ranks OR
Ability to manifest 3rd level Powers
Special: you must be selected for an advanced transformation. Retaining more of your previous memories and skills than is normally possible. a secretive council of Elans is responsible for this selection.

Hit Dice d8
Good will saves, Poor Reflex & Fortitude
Moderate BAB
+1 manifester level for each level of Elan
Skill points 2+ int. No extra skills gained for being human.
Class Skills: Autohypnosis, Concentration, Kn (any), Craft (any) Psicraft, Profession (any)

Elans gain no proficiencies with weapons or armor.

1st level – add sustenance (2nd lvl) to your list of known powers.

2nd level – Your life span extends by 25% (multiply the lower limit of each category by 1.25) Your memory grows hazy and some portions are gone forever. (Lose 1 rank from every skill) You can choose a new alignment without penalty.

3rd level – Resistance - spend 1 psp as an immediate action to gain a +4 to all saves until the beginning of your next action

The class is based on the fact that elan's are Abberations - thus the high hd and BAB it is also linked to the elf friend - and stoneblessed classes that provide some, but not all benfits of a race as a 3 level class.

Memory Loss can be interrupretted as more than just skill points - and open to the needs of the story :)

suggestions?

Err... yeah. I've written an Elan transformational PrC, but I hope to publish it in a cheap little PDF. The PrC will be Open Content.

So, I'm not going to actually look at yours, until mine is published. :)

*sigh*
Nifft - didn't you do the same with your version of the soulknife?
you are just going to make me buy it you realize.
I dont offer these revised classes to my tabletop group players - and your looking at publishing.
of course no one else In my group likes psionics as much as I.
what have you published btw?

How about just have a human spend a feat, and give up 4 skills+1 per level at random in exchange for the elan benefits and penalties, after going through a suitable ritual of couse.

Transformation PRCs aren't really my cup of tea though.
As far as balance goes it looks alright.

I tried, but the book got dropped. Now I think HellHound's company is going to publish it, with some other stuff I did (and probably with some other stuff he did, too)... no idea when, though. Can you tell publishing isn't my day job? :)

Well, you do come right out and say it. What's penguin herding like, anyways? Is it cold?

It's pretty chill, except for the dress code. I'm trying to convince mgmt to let me dress them in "business casual" for the summer.

Given I know little about the Elan...

Um, why is this power exciting? Is their lifespan short? Reassigning alignment could be useful, but not many people will do it (unless you can do it any time, and now when you hit 2nd level). And loosing 1 rank from all skills is rough. What if, for some strange reason, I never assigned more than 1 point to any skill, and had 20 of them? Boom, 20 points gone. On the other hand, if I had maxed out 4 skills, I only loose 4 points. Make it a flat number (I suggest making it = to the number of points the class gains that level, 2+int)

Also, you should expand their skill selection a little bit. No race is that solely focused on psionics that they do nothing else.
