Elder Evils Cover - Kyuss?

If I were an AoW contributor (and obviously, I am not), I think I would try (emphasis on try) to view the cover as the sincerest form of flattery: "Wow, those Paizo guys really knocked one out of the park for big scary mega-villains!"

Truthfully, this thread has made me consider picking the book up, as a source of additional Galchutt and similar for my Praemal game. (If I'm converting stuff from Ptolus, Banewarrens and Chaositech anyway, one more book won't kill me.) If it gets good reviews, I'll likely snatch it up.

Oh, we're always pleased when something from the magazine "graduates" into a hardcover book. Given how many members of the Paizo staff worked on this one, I am extra excited to see what they did!

Here's a closer look at the cover.
Michael Kormack.

For the past several months, whenever a WOtC cover that wows people is posted here on EN World, it was done by Michael Kormack.

He did the cover for Dungeonscape, the Caves of Chaos picture for PHBII (or was it DMGII?) and for several Eberron novels.

Michael Kormack. It's his style, and his style is pretty unique - it's the kind of "photorealism + interesting lighting".
Look at his gallery and you're seeing it in an instant.

EDIT: What Klaus said - serves me right to overlook the last post on a thread, esp. if that post actually bumped the thread up. :o

Cheers, LT.

So it's Apocalypse Stone: The Toolkit?

Pretty much.

Hated the whole idea behind the Apocolypse Stone (to wit: "your ideas are without merit, so will be having you pave over your world instead of us being bothered with silly notions of 'compatibility'")... sort of respected WotC for not going that route again. Guess that thought was premature.

I don't recall that Apocalypse Stone was mandatory or anything.

I was looking around for info on D&D Gameday, and I found this page:

http://yottaquest.com/Specific Games/RPGS/dnd.htm

This has a cover of Elder Evils. Does anyone know where they got this cover from? This is the first time I've seen it. Is it in the winter catalog?

I think it's hillarious that this picture is hosted on my (relatively speaking) local gaming store's website. Not sure why I think it's hillarious, but it's there none the less.

Also, it's listed as the cover on Amazon.com

Course not. The low priority given to compatibility that was it's reason to exist was not something I could do much about.
