Eldricht blast has been changed??

Can somebody tell me what the change is. I am DM'ing tonight and 1 of my players is a Warlock.

It was errata'd to be the equivalent of a level 1 spell on its own.

Any special invocations (like, say, a shaping invocation) increases the equivalent spell level of the blast.

This means that a basic EB will be stopped by a Minor Globe of Invulnerability, for instance.

It also means you can apply feats like Empower Spell-like ability or Quicken Spell-like ability to your eldritch blast, something that wasn't possible with the printed EB rules.

So basically one of the warlock's main ways of dealing damage is always hosed by a minor globe...even with a 20th level warlock?

Nope. Even a 6th level Warlock can select an Essence or Blast Invocation that will change the spell level of his Eldritch Blast to that of a 4th level spell.
