Elektra bad

"The movie doesn't thrill like sticking one's finger in a 110 volt socket
- it's more akin to the small, tingling sensation one gets when licking a
9 volt battery."

"Laughable without being entertaining."

"Elektra would have been far better off staying dead."

"Badass action heroine movies are like trendy new cell phone accessories:
Suddenly every girl in Hollywood has to have one."

"What might have been at best a silly Xena-style martial-arts adventure
meanders listlessly through swaths of relationship drama."

"Laughably bad...a tepid, torpid comic-book movie that could accurately
be described as this year's 'Catwoman.'"

"Devotees of awful filmmaking can't go wrong with this one."

It would have been better with Uma Thermon after seeing her in Kill Bill.

It was better than Daredevil, which is the worst Marvel comic book movie adaptation I've seen yet in the last few years. I liked Elektra though, but Jennifer Garner doesn't have that "hate" attitude going that I think Elektra should have. She's too nice.

Fantastic Four looks pretty good, I liked that trailer.

As a tangent (I haven't seen Elektra)...

I can only assume that everyone talking about how bad Daredevil was haven't seen the director's cut. Rent it, get it off Netflix, whatever, but watch it.

The director's cut is about 500 times better than the theatrical release. The characters are deeper (though not that deep; it's still a comic book movie), the plot holds together a lot better, entire subplots exist that were dropped from the movie, the fight scenes are better... Ultimately, there is nothing I can think of that the theatrical version has over the the director's cut.

Hijack over. ;)

I liked it, so did everyone in my gaming group but then we liked Daredevil as well. Neither are the worst of the recent spate of marvel-based hits. They aren't the best of the lot but then only a few can be.

It could have used more ninjas, true, though just seeing The Hand on the big screen at all is pretty good. We had Stick, Stone, even frickin' Typhoid Mary. My only two beefs with the film are minor ones, and they are (1)
I'd have preferred no 'new characters' like the 13-year-old
and (2)
I'd have preferred it if Elektra's ressurection had come near the end of the film, with Stick and his ninja doing the 'moving energy around' thing and bringing her back in the white costume
.

Elektra = Boring.

I kept looking at my watch wondering when I could get home and play a computer game instead of watching this waste of film. I thought the fight scenes were ok, when they were filmed slow enough to watch, most of the were so fast that you couldn't really see the moves, just people flipping and whirling around the screen. I still haven't decided if it was better then Daredevil...I mean Daredevil did have Kevin Smith.. *L* And I admit the only reason I saw Elektra was to watch Jennifer Garner for an hour and a half. I think she is alot hotter on Alias. In all it was a waist of my time, that would have been better spent doing my taxes or cleaning the catbox.
