Well Met!

An interetsing question has been come to the surface.

I am playing a Dwarven Wizard 5/ Elemental Savant 4 / Fighter 1. Upon reaching the level in Elemental Savant which grants 60' Darkvision... should the newly granted class bonus stack with the existing Darkvision or should the character simply have 60'.

Hey a peg'er!
Mosquito season started yet?

I would say, that it is similar to the Shadowdancer ability, which says you are permanently under the effect of a darkvision spell... which makes no mention of adding to any existing darkvision. YMMV

It wouldn't stack, no. Your GM might want to be generous, and give you a 10' or 20' increase to your existing Darkvision, though. ^_^

The mosquitos are lurking in the ponds and puddles and well pretty much everywher as we have enough water to sink a really big ship. The spring has been cold and wet... hell we had a foot of snow two days after Mother's Day... damn weather...

I expected that to be the answer ... as that is what I thought as well.. I will see if the DM will be generous...

And the Darkwood Stalker is the same... if you have darkvision already, you are SOL. ;)

There is precedent in that some prestige classes that grant darkvision provide +30 feet if the character already has it. I believe there is a trapfinder or temple raider or something that has this ability (CW?).

Right the Dark Hunter PrC in CW... but this is an underworld (or Underdark) PrC, designed for someone who lives and works there all the time, not an aboveground character. YMMV
