A thread on the Paizo forums linked to this page on Larry Elmore's site. It is for lithographs of the final cover of Dragon. It's titled "The Last Dragon Mage."
A shame I'm not working now. I would consider getting this lithograph.
Well, that's an Elmore lady for sure! I'm still in awe of his ability to make even female centaurs look stunning, never mind the more obvious "major abs and a dragon on leash" types
I'm torn, because on the one hand I love Dragon Magazine. On the other, I hate Elmore's artwork. Sure, he's a stand-up gentleman, but *gluh*. I understand he's an icon of the fantasy illustration industry, but there are more talented artists.
Just because something's been around a long time does not make it good, it just makes it enduring.
Elmore's art is a big meh for me. Sure, he gots some talent, but it doesn't move me.
However, I do think it's a nice touch to ask him to draw the last cover because he's an old timer. It's a coming full circle thing. You close the book and on the last page there was a nudge back to the first chapter.
