Elven magic

Fingol

First Post
Well maybe its not just for elves, but it could explain why they can live in harmony with their environment.

The idea involves a few spells along the way:

Elves eat, they produce waste. The waste is mixed with water and stirred until it resembles mud. An elven mage then comes along casts transmute mud to rock on it. Then he/ she casts stone to flesh and the elves eat again. If they want to get flash they can get elven artists in to scuplture the stone into statues so that when the stone to flesh is cast the end product actually presents the corpse of an animal or something.

What ya think?

I think I would just go with Create Food and Water and cast some illusions on top. So much simpler and it doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth...

I don't think I'd ever use this in a campaign of mine. The idea of creating a corpse out of waste to eat seems...unnatural...to me. The exact opposite of "living in harmony with nature." Living in harmony with nature is hunting what you need, giving thanks for the animal's sacrifice, and not destroying your environment. Not creating a body that never lived to feed on...

Or so it seems to me. :p

Yes it does create a rather disturbing image...

I just can't see elves sitting down to consume a mountain of jiggling, hairy flesh created from their own excrement...

Wouldn't it just be easier to say that the elves are vegetarians? Or even vegans?

Sounds more like the food for the ravenous Minotaur hexblade guards of the Mad Arch-lich Necromancer Riszithambul.

It isn't so much living in harmony with nature, but living outside of nature. By doing this, they create their own circle and reject nature's one.

But I can see elves eating their own excrements, since elves are just evolved rabbits. According to Mixed Myth, at least. Follow the story arc from there for the revelation. :]

Elves are auxotrophic plant life. Eating elf does not count as "cannibalism" if one is a human. They're quite tasty with a little ground deer, and the bones splinter up good as toothpicks.
