Elven Thin Blade...

Whoever did the math on Qunitessential Fighter must have forgotten to carry a 1.

It costs 2,000 gp to raise a masterwork weapon to gain +1 to hit (which overlaps with the masterwork bonus, thus it gains nothing) and +1 damage.

Pricing a non-magical upgrade at 150 gp is a poor design decision. +1 damage is essentially 1 higher damage dice (2-7 ~1-8) which can also cost an exotic weapon feat sometimes.

Hopefully, it will be included in v3.5 as a standard martial weapon for the elvish race ('exotic' for everyone else) in the same manner as the gnomish pick-hammer and orcish whatchamacallit.

Or, better yet, disallowed for being munchkin. Really, why should elves get such a weapon and not, say, humans?

One word: Because.

It's a game. No other reason necessary.

Its a perfectly valid weapon, but I dont believe any race needs it as a free exotic (if you have martial). It does make an interesting option for a subrace of elves though. Permanently changing proficiency with Longsword, Rapier, Short Bow, and Long Bow to if you have martial you get elvish rapier.

Sheesh, its an exotic weapon that humans can use as well.

Seems like all I see on these boards is the term "Munchkin".

Anyway, did they reprint that weapon in the Arms and Equipment Guide?

that should have been 300. its the same cost as masterwork. does that mean that the cost for +1 to hit is any LESS powerfull.
all that this does is make a 2 stage nonmagical weapon. look at it as fine quality +1 hit and exceptional quality +1 damage that stacks with fine quality. is absurd to pay 2000 gp for +1 damage that isnt even magical.

Thanks! I have the dragon mag so for me it is irelevant, but I was just curious about the Arms and Equipment Guide. It would be cool if they put all that junk in one book though. I got so many freaking Dragon mags! :)

Its an exotric weapon that boosts the damage by one step. That's about standard for exotic weapons.

As for the elf thing, well because there lame. And everything cool has to be elf made. And also there even lamer for not having human made/human prestige classes etc. In a world with multiple distinct races to not treat humans the same way is just moronic. Humans are the norm for us because wll we're humans, but in a world of 5+ races humans are the norm only in that they may be the most populaous race. Humans are just as likely to develop prestige classe/items/feats that are for them alone or at least get their names attached to them.

I mean geez lets say humans develop the human big ass sword, would elves/dwarves say well that's just abig ass sword you humans are the norm from which we all are based so there's no need to attach the human prefix.
