It has been a long time without elf threads. I guess it's time to launch another one. :D

So, in term of fluff, which type of elves do you prefer (traits don't matter, just assume they all are standard elven traits).

1) Tolkien Elves.
Favored of the gods, superior, immortal and all that. Human sized and beautiful looking. Can spot a fly a mile away, and can run for days on top of the snow without sinking or tiring. That sort of elves.

2) Celtic Sidhe.
Sidhe are enigmatic, usually aloof, and can also be cruel. Human sized and otherworldly looking. They come from the Otherworld or Faery, and are divided into those who belong to the Seelie and Unseelie court.

3) DnD Sylvan Elves.
Smaller than human, lithe with long pointed ears. Live in woods and are renown for their mastery of arcane magic. They are probably related to the Fey.

4) Other.
Explain.

Tolkien elves - hands down! No contest mon ami! For me they are THE standard for the elf, have always been, and likely will always be so.

Other

Short, wears green shirts and red tights. Optional red pointy hat. Makes toys and/or cookies. Lives in mild, temperate forests or at poles of planets.

Accordlands Elves

The whole "damned to live a very short life due to past actions" thing is a nice change of pace from the "immortal and loving it" cliche. And the whole "can bypass that short life if one chooses to embrace necromacy" also works for me. All in all, the best departure from 'stock elves' that I've seen in an RPG for a good, long, while.

My wife was hurt by a Keebler delivery guy while shopping. Thus, I'm introducing Keebler Elves as an enemy for her next time we play Toon.
