Alright, I've got a sizeable list for you--I couldn't find one translation for a name that I wanted, damnit: Dana. Anybody have an elvish translation for it?

These are the meanings, as far as I can tell...

DANA (1) f Polish, Czech, Romanian
Feminine form of DAN (1) or DANIEL, and a short form of BOGDANA
BOGDANA f Polish, Russian
Feminine form of BOGDAN
BOGDAN m Polish, Russian
Means "gift from God" from the
Slavic elements bog "god" and dan "gift".

here goes nothin! I've bolded the actual name that I want used.

RHIANNON (f.) - Celtic 'great queen'; alta "great", tári "queen", so Altatári

MARY, MARIA - perhaps Heb. 'bitterness'; sára "bitter", so Sáre or Sárie; I was suggested that Marie may also mean "frieng" (from Gaelic) which would be Nilde and Mellon in Sindarin

********************************************************************************************************

EDWARD (m.) - Herenvarno, see NWHAGEN (http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/elfnam.htm)

NATHANIEL (m.) - Heb. 'he [God] has given'; Eru "God"; *anantie or maybe *ánie "has given", thus Eru(a)ntion or Ániero ("he has given") (cf. JONATHAN)

JASON (m.) - probably derivative of Greek 'to heal'; envinyata "heal, renew", thus could be Envinyatar (though it is Aragorn's title)

PAMELA (f.) - Greek 'all sweetness'; ilya "all", lisse "sweet", so Illisse or short Illis

CHARLES (m.) - Mirimon (see NWHAGEN), also Mirimo

JEFFREY (m.) - Ger. 'good peace'; mane "good", sére "peace", so Maneséro; or a variant of GEOFFREY (q.v.), so Eruséro

DARREN (m.) - said to mean 'little great one'; alta "great", -lle a diminutive suffix, so perhaps Altallo

SUSANNA (f.) - Heb. 'lily' or 'rose'; indil "lily", losse "rose" (probably only the white one), thus Indil or Losse by themselves

ALISON (f.) - arisen from ADELAIDE (q.v.), thus Arnostale or Arquen or Arwen or Artanis (All of these are bolded cuz I'm not sure which one she'd want ....)

*******************************************************************************************

MELISSA (f.) - Greek 'a bee'; nion, nier "honey-bee", thus Nione or Niere

CHRISTIANA, CHRISTINA (f.) - fem. form of CHRISTIAN (q.v.), thus Laivine; or Elpinoine (see CHRISTIAN)
