Empire TV series

Over all I liked it. They are building up the inevitable conflict between the army and the senate and Dennis Haysbert is always a welcome suprise. There was more of the 'Tyrannus has a rep for butt thwomping' stuff going on, along with a pretty sad revelation about him. And some interesting turns regarding Brutus. Production values were still decent and it set up next week's episode wll at the end.

I liked that Octavius finally showed some guts, and did something to save himself. A bit of a cliffhanger at the end with Mark Anthony.

I'm glad that they didn't go so far as actually fighting in the arena etc.

I did not see the point of last night's episode. They seem to be in the same situation they were in before.

Also what was the Roman feeling toward blacks? I doubt they were as enlightened as the show presented them. (although that is only a guess)

The concept of race as we know it is a creation of the late 19th century. The Romans --like most people in the world prior to 19th century anthropology-- were more like culturists, not racists.

I'm still enjoying it but I have no doubt it will pale in comparison to HBO's Rome (which premieres August 28th). I was glad to see their version of Octavius grow a little backbone.

For both of you watching Empire, it looks like this is probably is a one off deal. Jonathan Cake (Tyrannus) looks like he is on some dramedy on another network. At least I think he is, or a guy who looked and sounded a hell of a lot like him on the ad I saw. ;)

Hey Hey

I'm sory but i really like the series...of course its history and im a sucker for anything history...but i know its in no way as good as Gladiator but hell what do you expect...Gladiator was amazing...get over it there is likely to never be a movie like that...but as far as the miniseires Empire...I loved it and thats all there is to it...and if you watch it for only like half an hour you can't do it...this series requires you to watch it all fron to back...so duh if you only watched it for a little then yah it may not seem that good...but its on tonight and from the previews it looks like its only getting better!!!!!
