This is a trial concept of something. What do you think? The basic idea is it's DRAGON and DUNGEON magazines via Patreon, you collect the articles individually and stick 'em in a binder, and you decide how much you want to pay. (Don't subscribe, whatever you do - it's just an idea, that's all!)

I'd need to line up about a dozen articles to start with (half for Pathfinder, half for 5E, plus some system neutral advice type stuff). For that I need two editors (one for each system) to handle and prepare the submissions, a couple of layout designers, a selection of artists, and a bunch of freelancer writers.

Dang. That's quite the challenge!

Not yet, though I will be. I'm looking for editors and layout artists. Writing submissions are the last part of the process, not the first.

i'd rather see a well-written gaming blog with these articles. if it became popular on the basis of its content, then i could see consolidating some of the cooler articles into an omnibus and selling it.

ENWorld has certainly moved from a simple news site towards content creation with its Adventure Path, so going an e-magazine route is a fun idea. And the name's fun.
When things get going I'll happily pitch ideas and work on content. But I imagine that will be the least hard role to fill. (Layout might be the hardest as someone with good layout skills and access to InDesign will be tricky.)

I don't have much experience in editing - excluding self-editing my own writing projects - and no professional experience. But I do have an English degree and some experience writing article content for D&D. I'd happily volunteer my services if someone without an editing background doesn't step up.

I would suggest three editors though: one for Pathfinder crunch, one for 5e crunch, and one for general English. Getting the rules right is too important to leave to a non-dedicated individual, but someone who knows the rules and proper English will be harder to find. Failing that, having the other editor glance through the other system's content for comprehension wouldn't be a bad idea.

Oh, man, I am a sucker for a good binder. And yet...

I wish you luck, Morrus, but I'm not sure this is for me. My approach to Dragon and Dungeon was always to buy individual issues that interested me specifically, and once that was no longer possible, I just stopped reading them altogether. I would definitely be interested in having these articles and adventures to purchase individually according to my interest, but pledging per article is still a bit too much like a subscription for me.

Especially as (roughly) half the content would be Pathfinder specific. I come to ENWorld for the D&D5 content and discussion, and haven't been active in the Pathfinder forum for years. I have nothing against Pathfinder; it's just not where my head is just now and I'm not therefore in a spending place regarding the game.

You mentioned in your New Year's post that this model might replace the site subscription. Any thoughts about how that might affect those of us with lifetime memberships?

That's an offer I'll decline. To be honest, ENPublishings track record in sticking to a publishing schedule is ... not convincing. Apart from that, I personally don't need much material, especially not for Pathfinder or 5e.

So while I wish you much success with htis novel approach to publishing, I'll only watch it.
