Got it. I was actually hoping for a lesser fee/rate structure, but I can see why you would do it that way. Selling .49c PDFs for a $99 outlay though may not be worth it in the end, you'd have to sell over 250 of them just to make it up by my calculations! Will have to think about it a bit more.

One thing to consider might be 'teaming up' with another publisher, perhaps one that doesn't plan to do any P&M on his own already, and figure out a royalty rate among yourselves, and release it under their name. Though, the amount you make per might become negligible. Let's wait and see how P&M does as a 'brand', who knows what might happen :)

Can we sell p&m products that are taken from our other products sold elsewhere? For example, if I have a prestige class as part of my book, can I sell it separately as a p&m?

I'm not INTIMATELY familiar with the P&M guide/license, but I can't see any reason why not. Especially assuming it's mostly OGC. In fact, there's nothing wrong with using P&M's as a promotional tool, not in the least. I believe there's even a provision in the license for using half-page ads within the P&M itself. (Which could very easily be a blurb about the complete book that the P&M is from).

I know that the OGL requires you to have at least a certain percentage of new material in the product (5%, I believe). However, I don't know how that interacts with just general copyright law. Since you hold the copyright on the original text, I don't think the OGL actually forces you to add new stuff if you just want to release a product of old material.

Of course, I am not a lawyer.

I'm not sure if I like the store design. It looks like it is part of the forums and not a real storefront. When I go to the store, I have to scroll down too much before I actually start seeing products. It's one of those I can't quite put my finger on it things, but it doesn't LOOK like a storefront.

As a publisher, I would like to see the fee schedule more clearly defined before I signed up. The base is 20%, but then you allude to other services that change the fee. I'd like to see these laid out in a clear format without having to search through fifteen screens to find them. I don't like the feeling that there are hidden charges I won't know about until I've paid out $99 to join in.

And what exactly is the $99 for? If there is no review requirement for products, no tech support, and the publisher uploads everything automatically, what is the $99 for? I've products available on three other sites, and only one charged a set-up fee, but for the fee I also received several quality Publisher guides (and the fee was half the price).

I guess to quantify my questions:
1. Can I upload "free" products without additional set-up fees?
2. How long does a product remain available before it is deactivated for slow/no sales?
3. What are the other services available and what are the fees?
4. I saw something on the website claiming publishers could request their payment at any time, but the actual user agreement says royalties are paid monthly with a minimum of $25. Please advise the correct circumstances.

Thanks for clarifying so I can make a decision as to what we're doing.

Yep.

That's the idea! :)

1. Can I upload "free" products without additional set-up fees?

Yes.

2. How long does a product remain available before it is deactivated for slow/no sales?

It doesn't.

3. What are the other services available and what are the fees?

So far, none. But the intention is to tie in EN World's banner ad system and automated it. The "other services" refer to plans to incorporate advertising etc. into the system, but I can't list them as they don't as yet exist.

4. I saw something on the website claiming publishers could request their payment at any time, but the actual user agreement says royalties are paid monthly with a minimum of $25. Please advise the correct circumstances.

Both options are available. I don't think there's a minimum on the instant payouts, but I'll check.

When your activation was sent, did you also get access to the publisher forum? If not, I'll be sure and manually give you that access. There you'll find some guides and tutorials on doing these very things. I'm always happy to help people get their products up, as well. It's true, the first one does seem to take a little time, but I think you'll find after the first couple, it's a breeze.

Can you give me access to publisher forum as well, as it just says I'm not allowed access whenever I try clicking the link.

As for the upload process, I didn't have any major problems. The first time round was the slowest, with the usual learning curve, but was fairly straight forward. One comment though - I'd prefer to upload pdf demo pages, rather than images, as image quality is not as good.

But, I think it looks fine.

[Edit: thanks, I have now have access]
