EN World GameStore - How's the interface?

I want to be able to come in, buy 1-2 PDFs, and be gone. I'm willing to accept a minimum purchase limit, but RPGnow's $6.40 is a lot friendlier than $20.

To keep facts straight... that min checkout amount was lowered to $4.95 with the release of edge.rpgnow.com and we charge 35 cents if you don't meet that amount.

I can't add items to my cart. It looks as if the site is trying to open a pop-up window, then when my two separate pop-up blockers kill it, I'm left with 0 items in the cart. Sorry, that design is not going to work for me.

It took me a while to work out whether I had anything in the cart. Where is the "View Shopping Cart" link?

Is there a Customer Service link?

In general:
I have to scroll down on every screen to see any information about the product. Please consider removing the inch and a half banner at the top.

It would be good to fix the Average Rating default sooner rather than later.

I haven't yet bought anything from the GameStore or provided other information about products I might want. In that case I'm curious what my Tailored Recommendations are based on. (They're not good guesses, as could probably be expected, nor are they the same as the front page or the newest releases.)

I'll make sure that there's a link to my email address on the site, it was a bit of an oversight. I'll put it on the menu. Thanks for calling that to my attention.

I had a fear that would happen with popup blockers, though it isn't an actual pop-up but a spawned window - there's a slight difference. It's a bit of a kenundrum, because on this very same thread, another person is talking about how they would like it to work even faster - to just move down the list adding products to the cart. Any suggestions on improving this would be greatly appreciated!

I've corrected the average rating default, now.

In regards to minimum fees:

We did have it set to 5 dollars and 40 cents, but when using the credit card processing, we actually lost money on the deal (Paypal was fine). As morrus pointed out, on some transactions we would actually lose money. Let me see if there isn't a way I can reduce it for paypal transactions, but remain for credit card. Or find a comfortable medium where we can eat some of it. We'll figure this out, thank you for your response :)

The d20 System Trademark License requires the 5%.

The OGL does not.

If you use the d20 logo on the product (and frankly, I don't know what it would gain you in the case of P&M, so I wouldn't advise it) then you would have to include 5% new material.
No, just 5% OGC. Not 5% new OGC. Very different. Most d20 products cover the 5% requirement just including stuff like stat blocks, a spell description, Skill DCs, etc.

Though, P&M products are not d20 products so that's not an issue. OGL products have no percentage of anything requirements.

Thanks for looking at these.

My pop-up blocker #1 is Windows XP SP 2, so this may affect many potential users, unless it's a quirk of my system.

Would a setting that people can turn off in their browser do the trick? It seems like an extra step, which isn't ideal. Hmmm it's a real kenundrum, as I said - people are liking it on one hand, but it may be hurting others!

Could it be a setting on the user's ENGS account? That way the user would only have to change it once. The user could pick this option if they had an unexpected problem (rather than auto-detecting the user's settings which would only work for problem software that you already know about).

You could have a prominent help notice (maybe the start of an Account Problems FAQ) to advise users to make this change if they can't purchase items.

We're actually compiling a FAQ now, as we wait and see what questions are, well, Frequently Asked. (I've always wondered about sites that had a FAQ on their very first day! :P )

ANyway, this addition is now in - just go to your account, and you can turn popups off.

Additionally, you can bypass your popup blocker by simply holding down the Control key when you click the link.
