EN World Members: D&D / D20 Bragging Rights

I once got a story published in a local paper because I participated in a writing class over the summer.

Not gaming material, but I figured I'd boast anyway.

That was you? A campaign from the spring I was in the druid loved this spell. Out of all the supplent spells this was the one I've seen used the most often and the most effective. Good job. :D

You have no idea how happy that makes me.

Well I'm an EN World newbie myself. I joined during the WotC setting search because I heard this was the best site on the net for D&D and that was quickly confirmed when AV started posting answers.

Seeing as this is my first attempt at getting anything published, I'm curious how easy/hard it is to do. I know general publishing is rough, but game publising seems easier to do. And I know there have been a few open calls since I started coming here, and hopefully I'll actually apply to some of the ones in the future.

I guess my question is, how did people here get their start?

Any advice is always appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

Ummm, does this count

I am in negotiations for a contract for a solicited subsmission for a couple of comic books for a publisher in England... and I have written a few articles published in web resources about ythe occult and specifically Aleister Crowley. great RPG fodder.

I worked my hiney off on the brand spankin new WoT Netbook. I did not pick what went in but lots of stuff from my website was used. No money - we will see if they throw stones at me though.

I also run a decent (IMO) website that has far more hits than I ever dreamed possible for some mook with a computer and half of a brain.

I actually had someone else ask me this question in my LiveJournal community recently. I'll go ahead and link you to my post there.

I've never been published in the gaming world but I was voted Best DM after a tournament back in the 2e days... "King's Quest" was the name of the tournament; it was a 3-rounder, I ran one of the first round groups and the final round. It revolved around an old obscure (wait for it)

FIEND FOLIO

monster, the enveloper; the pcs were completely deceived until the final round.

Fun games!

well, I had a letter published in Dragon (Woo-hoo!), which got picked out as "Brutal critique of the month"! And a monster in E-Minions, the Skinwraith, although it got slated by some reviewers- but hey, it's published right? :)
