I would like to join the list of the alternates. I see that there are already a number of players locked in so I can wait.

How do you play a game where the idea is to "die with style"? Do you go through many characters a session? I'm not sure that i understand.

You bet, Daeroon; you're on as an alternate. It would be fun to play with you again.

In Paranoia, you love The Computer. you trust The Computer. The Computer is your friend. You serve The Computer gladly.

There is a rumor that The Computer is insane. Rumors are treasonous.

You are a Troubleshooter. Your job is to find trouble and shoot it; trouble in the form of commies, mutants, members of secret societies, and any threat that gnaws at the utopian tranquility of Alpha Complex. Your friend The Computer has issued you a high-powered laser pistol for this specific purpose. All of your team members have laser pistols, too, all the better to cut down traitors.

Unfortunately, you are a member of a secret society, and you have a mutant power. That makes you a traitor.

Better hope your teammates and The Computer don't find out.

Luckily, The Computer in its infinite wisdom knows the logic of making backups. Thus, you have six clones. All six are identical; while clone 1 adventures, clones 2-6 wait in a central location, observing the mission through your comlinks. When you die, your next clone is immediately dispatched to resume the mission. Isn't that useful? It certainly is. But I'm sure that none of your clones will die on Operation Welcome Wagon. This mission will be perfectly safe, and fun for you all. The Computer says so, and you trust The Computer, right?

Right?

A definate maybe

If there is still room, and if I can get permission from my wife, and if I can get some time off work...

then I would definately like to play.

At this rate, we'll have two tables going yet!

Paranoia, incidentally, a built on the assumption that you're going to be a jerk to your fellow party members and that you have your own motivations. Many times, the entire team dies at least once before they ever get out of their mission briefing. I've run games where 35 out of 36 clones get killed. It's freeing, in a way... but if you're not sneaky, you better make friends with someone who is. :)

Okay, better than e-mailing info around, I've found it on-line.

For folks who haven't played Paranoia before (or who have, but don't have the books and want a laugh), read the following, in order:

First: The Infrared Introduction to Paranoia

Second: Tips for Traitors

Then, if you wish, you may read the other parts of
The Paranoia-0 Player's Guide
(the above links are from the "Red Clearance Articles"). This information really isn't mandatory. In fact, you may well have more fun if you don't read it. You have been warned.

Whoo hoo - thanks! That's required reading, folks. :) All except for the Players Guide, which you're better off avoiding.

Tips for Traitors (tm): building a better clone!
