Encounter: Any views on this puzzle combat?

The Atheltics check is a nice idea, blargney, and I'll think I'll give them a chance if they ask. Maybe allow a burst of speed with no consequences if they suceed and maybe spill the bucket if they don't? That seems a nice risk/reward. And then maybe increase the DC every time the same character they tries it (as theyt get tired).

I'm going to add my voice to the idea of you doing a write up of the encounter after the fact. :) I would love to know how this turns out.

Maybe a Religion check would let them know that the blood lust is part of what powers the skeletons. If they splash blood over the skeletons it dazes them for one round, but after that it won't work anymore because their blood lust has been increased...

Or maybe you splash the undead with blood and they are dazed (save ends) but then gain a +2 bonus to damage from bloodlust?

Guys, just fantastic! So great to have these ideas. You never know what they'll throw at me! The Religion/Bloodlust/Dazed/+2 is definitely in the mix now

You just know I have all these great ideas from you guys now and they'll never use any of them! ;) But it's SO cool to have them.

I'll definitely try to do a write up for you guys. You definitely deserve it. I hope it goes even half as well as it does in our collective minds!

Here's another thought: props! Draw up a card for the 5-gallon bucket and another for the 3-gallon. Whichever player is carrying each bucket gets the card. Then get some red 1-gallon blood tokens they can use to fill the buckets (possibly differentiated by blood type).

Some people need to solve puzzles visually, so it could help alleviate that problem. It should also help keep track of what component is where on the board.

Here goes...

Well, today's the day. I'm going to try and record the day and then write up the encounter sometime this week.

Just want to say thank you for everyone's support. I hope they don't just waltz it in two seconds now!

Growing up on a ranch, I've carried many 5-gallon buckets full of water and feed.

Carrying a full bucket is awkward. Even with three gallons, I'd definitely consider the person carrying the bucket slowed.

Also, trying to swing a sword and defend against attacks while one hand has a 30- to 50-pound weight hanging off the end is at best difficult if not impossible. I'd consider giving the person carrying the bucket the weakened condition and have them grant combat advantage.
