There's also a feat in Libris Mortis that allows you to remove Negative levels as a full round action. But it has two or three feats as prereqs.

A cheaper option is the death ward armor ability (+1) from Complete Arcane. It has a similar effect (immune to death spells, magical death effects, energy drain, and any negative energy effect) but only works once/day (when attacked).

(Player's Guide to Faerun, published before Complete Arcane, has the same ability at +2, but there the effect lasts 7 minutes once activated by an attack.)
