Energy Substitution and The Sorceror

I'd say go for Arcane Preparation. Find that feat works nicely for my sorceror... you lose a little flexibility in spell selection, but it's not like you'll ever notice. :)

Ok, Quicken Spell is, of course, a pretty nice feat to have, if you can use it. :)

Partially on topic: How does it work out in general? Don't the spellcasters simply become quite a bit more powerful that way?

Energy Substitution is a slot level +0 feat, right?

Then with my house-rules, a sorcerer could cast 4 acid balls per day without paying an extra cost... (Metamagic feat rank=slot level increase, each metamagic feat can be used suddenly for free a number of time equal to 4 minus rank. So Silent Spell gives three sudden silenced spells, while Empower only gives two sudden uses, and maximize only one.)

It won't be unbalancing at all. The Archmage gets it for free and for any of the energy types. You get it for 1. I have a campaign where the House Rule is that Sorcerors don't get penalised for applying Metamagic feats. I even allow them to take Quicken. So far, I have 1 Sorceror and he is half Ranger and going for Arcane Archer. Go figure.

That's what I think (not unbalancing). But I want to cut down on my rule tweaking a bit, so I'll avoid HRing the metamagic feats. I do allow them to take quicken though as a special dispensation. It was that or removing it (made no sense that a wizard could while a sorceror could).
