Enlarge Person

This hasn't come up in my game as yet but it could soon. What happens when Enlarge Person is cast on someone that has people either side of them? Are they pushed back? Who gets to decide what square they are pushed back to?

Since it's not covered in the rules, it's up to your judgement call. I'd go with them being pushed back. And the DM decides what square they're pushed back to, of course. Why else are you being paid the big bucks ;)?

Wait...we get paid. No one informed me of this before.

As for the pushing back, judgement call. It shouldn't be hard to decide where they fall. I'd say make a balance check/reflex save to see if you fall prone (maybe like DC 15 or something, not too difficult but something that could happen).

I think you'd fall prone, just as you would on a failed bullrush attempt.

SRD on Movement

Ending Your Movement

You can’t end your movement in the same square as another creature unless it is helpless.

And from the Bull Rush section:

...If that space is occupied, you fall prone in that space.

Who are you suggesting would fall prone? The newly enlarged person or the person that was next to the person before he got enlarged?

Well it hardly amounts to much after Guild dues, anyway... ;)

I'd not call for balance checks, personally. I can see the reasoning, but I don't want to see PCs trying to exploit this effect, and I think I'd be a bit upset as a player, at the player who cast the spell, if this was the case. IMC I'd rather just adjust the figures as quickly as possible and move on with things, I might even put off actually moving any figures immediately and adjust them as their actions come up.

I agree with the falling prone, to a certain degree.

If there is ample room for the other characters to move aside, then they can move aside.
You don't want to punish ALL the players decisions.

However, if the Enlarge happens in a narrow corridor, or other such circumstance, then the other players may be forced prone. I'd still allow a check of some sort (Dex, Balance, Reflex, Opposed Strength) to keep their balance as they are forced aside.
