Enlightened Fist Shenanigans

Brain

First Post
I was discussing character ideas from Complete Arcane with a friend today, and he was talking about how an Enlightened Fist with the Rapid Stunning feat could cast and deliver as many touch spells as it had attacks in a full attack action.

Looking at just the Enlightened Fist and Rapid Stunning text, it seems like it should work, but it just seems wrong. Is there a rule that prevents multiple non-quickened spells in a turn other than the standard action or more casting time? If I ran a campaign I'd nix it, but I'd like to think that the rules already had it covered.

Only thing I see in a brief perusal of the SRD Spell section is a mention that "A spell with a casting time of 1 free action doesn’t count against your normal limit of one spell per round." However, it seems that this is just an assumed limit based on the casting time of at least 1 standard action for all other spells than the free action ones. The Enlightened Fist ability doesn't mention casting time at all.

To clarify what I'm talking about:

The enlightened fist can trade a stunning fist use for the ability to cast and deliver a touch spell with one of his attacks as long as it is part of a full round attack action.

Rapid Stunning allows one more use of stunning fist (or other attack that uses up stunning fist) per round.

So, it seems that an enlightened fist with rapid stunning x times could cast and deliver x touch spells as long as he had x attacks in a full-attack action.

Rapid Stunning doesn't allow the use of Elightened Fist. To clarify, IIR(eading)C any spell that you cast with Elightened Fist, becomes a use of the Elightened Fist ability not stunning fist.

Call 'em quickened spells and be done with it, I say. The ability is far more abusable than the Quicken Spell feat as it reads now (I'm thinking mainly about the ability to cast many (up to 5/round) of the most dangerous types of spells around, since touch attacks are easy to make, and most touch spells allow no save).

On the other hand, now that I"ve actually taken a closer look at the question and the classes involved, the character in question would be working with lower level spells than the casters of the group, would have nowhere near as many spells/day, and would require a good chunk of levels to get several attacks per round.

The arcane fist power reads as follows:

Arcane Fist (su): Beginning at 3rd level, an enlightened fist can spend one of her daily stunning attempts to cast and deliver a touch spell as part of an unarmed full attack action. She can choose to deliver the touch spell with any single unarmed strike attack she makes during the action.
That's amazingly clear and "tamper-proof", actually!

This ability only allows the enlightened fist to spend one of her daily stunning attempts. It is irrelevant how many stunning attempts the enlightened fist can attempt in a round. No bearing whatsoever.

Nice try! :)

Now what about rapid stunning? From the explanation above, it would sound like it removes that limit from any ability that consumes uses of stunning fist.

Well, considering the beating I just took over in the wild armor thread, I'd better be careful as I look for an answer for this. ;)

Here's the feat text:

Rapid Stunning
Benefit: You may use one additional stunning attack (or other special attack that counts against your daily limit of stunning attacks) per round.

Normal: You may only attempt a stunning attack (or any other special attack that counts against your daily limit of stunning attacks) once per round.

Special: A character can take this feat multiple times. Its effects stack.
Yoowch!

Fortunately, the Arcane Fist power also says: "as part of a unarmed full attack action". That implies (but not clearly!) that it takes up the entire round, and therefore can't be done more than once per round. None of the other "stunning fist" powers have language like that.
