ENnies 2004 - looking ahead

I would really like to shorten the actual ceremony a bit. My suggestion would be to limit acceptance speeches to Gold winners. I would also like to see the awards show start a bit earlier, perhaps 8pm.

If these things happen the awards will end early enough for people to go out and enjoy their Friday night no matter what plans they might have.

I could do like the Academy Awards folks - they put a clock up where the folks giving the speech can see it that tells them how much time they have - if they go over they risk having their mike cut >:)

Some of its OGC may make it into our next book, if the fit is right. :)

Oddly enough, I've been thinking much the same thing about Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. :)

On a slightly different matter, I'm perfectly happy to listen to Green Ronin's or anyone else's silver award speeches. If I can sit through the Oscars, then I can certainly handle a couple of hours of seeing people I like get awards.

(Besides, if the ceremony gets too long I'll just steal Mike Mearls's hip flask and start killin' the pain a little early. :D)

Now see, impressive as it is, I saw Stargate and this is a huge, full color, glossy, hardback book (huge price tag though) that I think is going to be super hard to beat.

for the few hours i got to enjoy the book before the airport lost my #$%#$% luggage.......i was dissapointed in it.

i didnt like the layout and 1/3rd of the book was an encyclopedia to the series......season 1-6

RoEG Publishing is going to try its darndest to get the Stygian into the running for next year. Also, we may have an adventure module or two up for selection by the time the ENnies comes around again.

THAT particular problem has been taken care of. I now have three full time layout specialists working for RoEG so now I don't have to worry about my crappy computer messing up the final issue.

Russ & Michael, you both forgot about that new category I mentioned at Gen Con... You know the:

Best Tiefling Writer/Designer Award???? :p

Or did you not look inside that....cough....rather thick envelope I slipped in your pockets?

;)

Hmm 3rdedition.org with at least a silver once more!

Of course, it's a bit hard to compete with SWRPGnetwork, given that they aren't a D&D board. A big percentage of the voters are ENWorlders, after all, and chances are good they'll tend to visit a D&D board less than a non-D&D one, given the nature of ENWorld itself.

I've been talking to Peter Adkison, and have made some progress.

1. The rebranding of the awards to "Gen Con EN World RPG Awards" can be regarded as official.

2. Peter has agreed to swing me a free EN World booth with internet access, so promotion of the ENnies should be a bit better.

I was trying to get a discount for EN Worlders at pre-reg, but he's not so enthusiatic about that one!

I'm going to suggest Chris' idea of bonus priority points to him for the winners. I don't know how receptive he'll be, but it's worth a try. I don't suppose someone could fill me in on how that works? never having bought a booth before, I'm pretty much in the dark about the subject.
