ENnies 2004 - looking ahead

I just wanted togive a shout out to Morrus and especially Michael Morris for the great audio-visual element to this year's awards. Great job, guys. It really made the whole thing seem professional without taking itself too seriously.

Great job.

Russ, you could see if ENWorlders could get a floor of a hotel together... Or have someone else do that. THAT could be fun :)

Ooooooo!!! That WOULD rock - make sure it's in the Westin, if possible! :) Great access to the Con center! ;)

Oh - Russ - any word on Gen Con's new date?

I don't see how that could be done. I ain't booking them on *my* credit card! ;)

I'm not familiar with the process, but basically you contact the hotel well ahead of time to make arrangements. Everyone pays for their own room, though the group as a whole *might* get a discount (I sorta doubt this since the convention itself gets a discount).

I'm going to suggest Chris' idea of bonus priority points to him for the winners. I don't know how receptive he'll be, but it's worth a try. I don't suppose someone could fill me in on how that works? never having bought a booth before, I'm pretty much in the dark about the subject.

Typically how this works is that at some point during the convention, the sign-up for floor space "opens" up and a convention representative comes to each of the companies that have floor space. The order is typically determined by who spent the most money.

The company then selects their booth location and the representative moves on.

Disclaimer - I do not know how Gen-Con does floor assignment - or how much a square foot costs, but here is a suggestion.

Each Victory could equate to some amount of virtual dollars. I.e. a Gold victory = $5k Silver = $1K. This is then used to recalculate the order of booth resevervation. Thus, it is possible for a winner to bump up. However, They would still have to pay the price of the floor space.

Another thing is mabye winning will get a reduction in the time it takes convention workers to deliver your booth - or mabye the electician/carpenters :p

Incidently, the time to contact them for this type of thing would be..... well now. All things being equal, the farther out you arrange these things - the better the chance of them happening.
