Feel free to comment on the categories -- I'll start by defining a couple of them:

Campaign Setting vs. Setting Supplement:

A "campaign setting" for our purposes is a world or a universe or a big chunk of a world. Note that we'll be evaluating the product that details the setting and special rules for it, not the setting itself as a nebulous idea. Examples would include Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting or Living Greyhawk Gazetteeer.

Setting supplement looks at a more limited piece of a world: a country, a region, an island, a city, even a collection of inns & taverns would count. A "setting supplement" does not have to be tied to an existing world, though it can be. Examples would include Silver Marches for Forgotten Realms, a "generic" city sourcebook, that sort of thing.

Rules Supplement vs. Aid/Accessory:

Rules Supplements are books with new or variant rules in them. They might have classes, races, spells, magic systems, magic items, new combat rules, vehicle rules, new kinds of weapons, etc. Note that this does not include monsters, as there's a separate category for that.

Aids and Accessories is a kind of "catch all" category that would include aids like counters, GM screens, character sheets or portfolios, and accessories like collections of NPCs. This category also includes magazines, e-zines, and periodicals that assist in the play of D&D or D20 games.

Monster Supplement:

Can be a collection of creatures, or focus on a few or one creature.

Resource Fan-Site vs. Campaign Fan-Site:

A resource site mostly focuses on new rules, new classes, new races, etc., or aids/accessories that can be accessed on line (generators, etc.) etc., and is mostly not tied to a published or home-brewed campaign setting or campaign site. Examples would include thinks like Jamis Buck's Generators, Creature Catalog, that sort of thing.

Campaign sites mostly focus on home-brewed campaign settings, with some new rules such as races, classes, equipment, spells, etc. to go along with the setting. Examples would include Dusk. What I'm not clear on is if this category can include fan sites about published campaign settings like FR or Greyhawk -- we'll get back to you on that one right away.

Are there forthcoming rules on how to enter each category? For instance, how does one enter the Website or Web enhancement categories, in which no product can be sent?

What about a category for best d20 magazine article? Or best magazine published adventure?

There are several magazines that could qualifty: Dragon, Dungeon, Gaming Frontiers (?), the (apparently) short lived Campaign magazine, etc....

Large category I know, but still a worthwhile area, at least from my perspective.

Yes, as with last year there will be guidelines provided for submitting both products and websites. Stay tuned.

I'll get the others' opinions on this but I'd say that in general I don't see us evaluating/judging individual magazine articles. I think that would get to be too much for the judges to handle. However I'm tempted to say that an exception could be made for adventures (from Dungeon mag or whatever). Stay tuned...

OK, campaign fan-sites can be homebrew or can focus on published sites.

AAAAAGGHGHGH,

You guys stink! I see that little locked forum. My little mind wonders what strange words happen in the LOCKED forum. I sit here, unable to do more than stare at the 2002 ENNies forum.

To make it worse, I voted for 5 people - 4 of them are in that little locked room!!!

Takes Xanax

No, I am ok. Don't mind me.
