FFG took two gold and two silver for Dark Heresy, which I have to say is probably my favorite game going these days (looking forward to Rogue Trader).

Paizo did four gold and two silver, which isn't bad when you compare them to the 800 pound gorilla in the industry (seriously, WotC will always be #1).

Definitely, its great IMO, and their wins really reflect their strengths: setting, adventures, art, and cartography.

It's tough to compete directly with WotC, but they are doing it.

And I have to say, WotC's material is really great these days. Not my current cup of tea, but they are going to pull me back after they announced Dark Sun for next year.

A pity that OBE didn't win one for Hard Boiled Armies, but otherwise, I see that I voted with the majority in just about every category.

Yeah, its nice to see WotC win Gold for Best Rules (PHB 4e) and Monster book (4e MM). It also nice to see that DDI won a Gold too in its category.
While I can agree with best rules, and certainly the DDI deserves a gold, it's a joke that the MM beat out Creatures Anathema. The MM is pretty much just a book of stats and artwork (admittedly good stats & artwork, by and large), whereas CA is a great resource with excellent fluff and story seeds...

Well, I see at least 2 angles that might have affected the outcome:
1) Creatures Anathema wasn't that known to the general voter. Which is sad, if it's as good as you say (and it basically has to be, since it was nominated!)
2) Voters value artwork and useable game statistics more in a Monster Book then great fluff. I mean, while many people critisize the MM monster fluff, most applaud the elegance of the blocks and the good usability.

Personally I'm happy to see Paizo do so well. I know I was very upset when they lost Dungeon/Dragon and was worried what was going to happen to them. I love the idea of Pathfinder and like that there's another company breathing down WOTC's neck as it will only make their products better too because if not they'll lose players (and revenues) to Paizo.

Like Shroomy said in post 22, Paizo does a few things better (IMHO) than others in the industry and this was demonstrated in the awards.
