Ennies: So how did u vote?

No posts? I guess most people got their opinions out of their system in a previous post...

I for one was a bit dissapointed that Scarred Lands Campaign Setting: Ghelspad did not win best setting. Probably had something to do with the way S&S published setting material in all the sourcebooks instead of a big one-shot right away...

Maybe. But even so, the SLSC WAS a great comphrensive guide nonetheless. Not as crunchy as the FRCS but come on, MUCH BETTER history and overall organic feel. Besides who doesn't love Aerial Caviler?! ;) Besides, I still don't believe it was a legimate catagory for OA to be in. Best setting!?! Why? I saw more history in a Breif History in Time than I did that book.

Still I felt Hollowfaust was robbed. I saw the other cover arts. Hollowfaust I felt was better.

I'm not as upset at losing out to Freeport, but I still think it might be nice to give a runner up something.

Hmmm.... should I do it?

Ok, I will. Please, nominees, please please please take these as just one D&D geek's opinions...

Best Publisher:
Green Ronin Publishing
I was going on past performance, their track record of publishing gem after gem, and a sense that they are headed for big, big things.

Best D20 Game:
Spycraft RPG (AEG)
This one went where no one in d20 had yet gone particularly successfully -- modern before Modern, if you take my drift.

Best Adventure:
Of Sound Mind (Fiery Dragon Productions)
I just had no question that this was the best. The others I kind of struggled with in my decisions.

Best Campaign Setting:
I can't actually remember which one I voted for, it was one of these, in my mind they were pretty close --

Oriental Adventures (Wizards of the Coast)
or
Scarred Lands Campaign Setting: Ghelspad (Sword & Sorcery Studios)

Best Setting Supplement:
Freeport: City of Adventure (Green Ronin Publishing)
Usefully generic yet flavorful.

Best Rules Supplement:
Shaman's Handbook (Green Ronin Publishing)
I wasn't as taken with the Manual of the Planes as some have been. After tasting the sweet nectar of Plansecape, the 3E MoP seemed a little bland. I felt the Shaman's Handbook did a good job of filling a gap in the D&D classes. However, I would have voted for Alchemy & Herbalists if the wind had been blowing a different way that afternoon.

Best Aid or Accessory:
Dungeon/Polyhedron Magazine (Wizards of the Coast)
Best value in gaming, I've always felt so.

Best Cartography:
Backdrops (Atlas Games)
I just liked the maps in this. I was almost equally taken with the maps in Urban Blight and in the honorable mention, If Thoughts Could Kill.

Best Art (Interior):
Wheel of Time RPG (Wizards of the Coast)
My subjective opinion here means nothing. Nothing, I tell you! But I appreciated the variety of styles.

Best Art (Cover):
Lord of the Iron Fortress (Wizards of the Coast)
The thing that sold me over Hollowfaust (which was right up there, in my mind) was the angle.

Best Graphic Design and Layout:
Rokugan Campaign Setting (AEG)
No nonsense, colorful, attractive, but I had no really strong opinions here -- except that I also really liked the honorable mention Backdrops.

Best Monster Supplement:
Armies of the Abyss (Green Ronin Publishing)
No monster book since Legions of Hell has gotten the creative juices flowing like this one.

Best Free Product or Web Enhancement:
Steve Mulhern's spreadsheet is the only one I actually use, but it was only an honorable mention. I didn't have a lot of strong feelings here otherwise and now that I think of it I can't remember what I voted for. Probably Mahasarpa or Ink & Quill.

Best Official Website:
Malhavoc Press at http://www.montecook.com
Tidy, accurate, has good content, and a definite personality.

Best Fan Resource Site:
SWRPGNetwork at http://www.swrpgnetwork.com/
This site appears to be doing for both versions of the SW RPG what EN World does for D&D and D20. Just a top notch site.

Best Fan Campaign Site:
I didn't have a strong feeling here, but I think I voted for...
Project Silverymoon at http://www.gemofthenorth.org

My votes, as far as I can remember:

Best Adventure: Interludes: Bluffside

Best Game: CoC. No brainer

Best Rules: MotP.

Best Campaign Setting: Scarred Lands

Best Setting/Cartography/Interior Art/Fan Campaign: No vote

Best Free product: Portable Hole

Best Cover Art: Witchfire 3

Best Monster Book: CC2

Fan Resource: Creature Catalog

Official Website: Monte Cook
(Approachable and good freebies, and the website is more often up than down. :) )

Publisher: Green Ronin, though I would have voted Malhavoc. I didn't give it to WotC. Why give it to a publisher whose support seems to be grudging?

These are personal opinions. I don't see why people are whining about OA, which was the most controversial win and rants that it shouldn't even have been included in that category. It was decided by quite a few people in Enworld who aren't neophytes. Give them some credit.

I freely admit I haven't read every nominee in their categories, but those I voted, I felt strongly enough about.

I skipped most categories since I'm not as RPG conscious as most of you and don't feel comfortable voting for things i'm not familiar with...

I remember i voted for the D20 Conan site, which is the ultimate fan site and should be a model for people interested in doing middle earth d20, lankhmar d20 etc

I also voted for Claudio Pozas, because i like most of his drarings

Monte Cook's site gets my vote because WOTC's site is finicky.

My 'puter sploded when I tried to write in my votes-

Best Adventure: (Tie) Roadtrip to New Orleans or Following Route 66. Depends on time available and need for alcohol.

Best Game: Baby Oil Twister

Best Rules: 'Don't run with Scissors' and 'Don't make that face or it will stick like that!'

Best Campaign Setting: The Schwartzwald is very picturesque.

Best Setting/Cartography/Interior Art/Fan Campaign: I enjoy Meridian's early work but went with Peter Schenk the Elder.

Best Free product: Shampoo samples

Best Cover, Art: I remember him claiming to to have a kidney stone when pulled over by a cop for speeding. He was escorted to the hospital at high speeds with the sirens going and lights flashing. That Art is one smooth talker when he has to cover his rear!

Best Monster Book: Has to be the coffee table version of the 'World's Tallest Skyscrapers.' It is in scale.

Fan Resource: Electricity seems to work best. I'm very against the use of eunuchs for AC purposes (and otherwise).

Official Website: official.com, .net, .org. .gov, .edu, and .mil all appear to be unused. I didn't have time to explore any of the many others found here ( http://www.computeruser.com/resources/dictionary/noframes/nf.domains.html ) so I abstained from voting in this category.

Publisher: Bertelsmann (which owns Random House) is the largest publisher in the world. I figured them for shoe in. http://www.bertelsmann.com/bag/profile/profile.cfm

One thing I would recommend for next year is to leave an option for those who don't wish to vote for a category. In a couple of the categories I had no strong opinion or had not seen enough of the products to make what I felt was a fair call. However I didn't see any way to avoid voting in that category but still move on.
