Entering square occupied by invisible creature

If a Character tries to move into or through a square that is occupied by an invisible creature, how is that handled?

Is the invisible creature bumped into and detected? Does the characters movement stop? Can the invisible creature try to move out of the way, as an ally would if a character moves through his square?

If this is covered in the rules, what page?

I seem to recall seeing that you could move through an ally's square, but I can't find it in the SRD.

If that's true, then you would be able to move through the invisible creature's square if it let you - it would step out of the way and let you past.

If it didn't want you to move into the square, then I'd treat it as a Bull Rush, giving the invisible creature a decently-sizex circumstance bonus because you weren't expecting to run into anything.

Passing Through, PH, page 130...

Passing Through
&nbsp&nbsp&nbspSometimes you can pass through an area occupied by another
character or creature.
&nbsp&nbsp&nbspFriendly Creature: You can move through an area occupied by a
friendly character.

Couldn't he just let you pass through andtake an AoO? (if he wanted to of course)

I'm concerned with an invisible NPC that wants to remain undetected. What happens when my Player says, "I move here.", if 'here' is the same square as the invisible NPC or a square just the other side of the invisible NPC?

As drnuncheon pointed out, the invisible NPC can simply let the PC pass through his square unhindered.

I'd use the Overrun rules (page 139 PHB). If the occupant doesn't avoid (which would let the person through), he's "Blocking", which mean he's subject to being Overrun.

The person moving through does a trip attempt on the occupant (IMO, regardless of whether he knows the occupant is there or not). This trip attempt is subject to the concealment miss chance (50%) due to the invisibility. If you fail to trip the occupant, (either because of the miss chance or because of a failed to-hit or because of a failed str or dex contest) you're done moving. Even if you hit with the trip attempt, you must succeed at the str or dex contest, or be subject to counter-trip.

Also, since the moving person needed to move through (or out of) a threatened sqaure (the moving person needs to move INTO the squre of the occupant during an Overrun), there is a chance the occupant gets an AOO on the moving person. Note, there is no AOO for the overrun itself, only if the movement causes one.

That's a reasonable House Rule, Kreynolds. I'll probably go with it, though it seems that while moving through a space occupied by an ally, you're likely to brush against him and feel him there. Maybe force a reflex save on the invisible NPC to avoid contact with the Player passing through his square. I was hoping this had been covered, though.

And what about the Player stopping in the same square as the invisible NPC? If I have to house rule that, I'd probably force the NPC to drop prone to avoid detection.

If the invisible occupant didn't want to have the person know they were there, they would need to "avoid" the overrun. They might (probably) still get an AOO on the moving person, due the movement involved. But that might let the moving person know there is someone there. :)
