Ouch. Sometimes it is nice having a few episodes you haven't seen to keep the rerun season lively. :)

This was one episode I thought for sure I wasn't going to like. But, I have to admit, I really found it enjoyable. If they keep this level of excellence until the finale (which sounds GREAT from what I've heard so far), then season two might be redeemed after all.

Admitedly, when I saw the preview, I got the feeling I would not like it either.

However, regardless of that, I simply did not see it yet. Sounds like people (at least those that posted) liked it. So maybe I can catch it on the saturday repeat.

Ain't that the truth. Luckily someone taped it for me!

I thought the episode was ok. I liked the focus on Travis, since he has been so under utilized this season and I liked looking into the life of the civil transport authority - but that was about it. I found the script to be banal and so utterly predictable that it wasn't enjoyable. I thought the portrayals by the actors were fine - but the plot had no spark to it at all. It was just SO vanilla I wasn't all that interested in it.

I like Travis' character, I hope they do more and better with him as time goes on.

It was a bit sedate, as episodes go, but I think they are doing right by the characters. I know there was a lot of flak about Harry Kim not being fully realized and I think the Mayweather segments have been some of the more in-depth, up-close and personal of the character arcs (especially those that have more to do with pre-ship, or off-ship relations.) Maybe they are planning to kill him off! ;)

Harry Kim? It seems as if I missed the Voyager season where he made all the mistakes that lead to him still being an Ensign after 7 years of hard work on the Voyager :(

"not being fully realized" seems not fitting enough... :)

It was discussed in a number of episodes. It has to do with the command structure. Only so many spots at the top and if no one dies or is promoted to another ship, the academy, space station, planetary base, etc., then those of junior officer rank have no hope of promotion. His rank makes little difference in character development since they could have written every episode around the Ensign (in theory) regardless of his rank. Character development has to do with how involved they are in plots, arcs, etc. (but you knew that, didn't you?)
