Enterprise - The Breach

The rescue of a damaged transport prompts the Denobulan Phlox to confront his prejudices when he treats an Antaran (Henry Stram), whose people are sworn enemies of Phlox's. Other Denobulans are holed up in an underground cave, where Trip, Reed and Mayweather are dispatched to retrieve them.

Looking forward to more Phloxiness. He's got an odd ego.

I'm liking the way they are playing up the names of the individual episodes, even though it bugged me at first (first time I remember them doing it was with the Prison Ship episode, Canamar, and I had thought at the time that it seemed a little cheesy.) Not so much anymore...

Just wanted to get one on the boards in time to remind Mastermind to watch this week... :p

Stupid internet...

I had typed out my impression on the episode and now it's gone. Poof...gone...evapourated into cyberspace...

Bottom line on the episode:

It was ok, but boring. I liked the glimpse into Phlox's character and the history of his people, but found the episode to have no spark to it. The acting seemed forced and there was absolutely no drama.

The subplot with Tripp, Mayweather and Reed was good. I think Tripp is the best character on the show. I like how he responds to situations as it seems more natural to me - more like how people would react to aliens and alien ideas.

One nitpick: if Mayweather lived on a longhaul freighter for most, if not all of his life, how did he develop caving skills well enough to lead the rescue mission? It seemed as if the writers just threw him in there to keep him on the radar.

My verdict: 6/10 - an ok but boring episode. The show really needs to pick it up.

Phlox has a wierd, well everything. :) He's a fun character though.

This sound at first blush to be more familiar territory for Trek again, but who knows? Well, I check back after I see the episode on Saturday.

Phlox is weird, isn't he? :)

Ten minutes to show time in the Windlass Zity...

As we saw in a past episode, Mayweather does have a penchant for dangerous activities. Maybe he picked up the climbing skills in Starfleet training. :D

I enjoyed tonite's subplot more than Phlox's dilemma, but always find the Doc a pleasure to watch. Didn't really feel the hatred going on, but then this story has been used in Trek before. I really liked Trip threatening to phase pistol that Denobulan in the ass.

Now I'm just biding my time until the Borg episode in two weeks.

I thought the episode was a bit dry. I was really hoping for some interaction between the other Denobulans and the Antaran.

The best part was seeing a tribble again, if only for a few seconds.

I though that part was quite funny and well done: just a simple off-hand reference to the little furry thing and then into the cage with the 'reptile'.

There hasn't been much discussion about this episode. Is that a sign that people aren't watching the show anymore, it didn't have really anything to discuss in it, or people aren't talking?

Oh, I had some issues with this one, mostly it is nothing new! Dialog lacks passion, it is dull and lifeless.

Okay, my pet peeve! Here is the gang in caves. Why are they using ropes, this bugged me, they have artifical gravity, they use it to move equipment, they use it in their ships BUT has someone come along and made a belt that will allow them to float up and down like a fat harkoon! Noooooo!
