ENWorld Summer Tournament? (retitled)

We are considering hosting just such a tournament at CyberCon 3 (Sept 2002) http://cybercon.rpghost.com ... Still have to settle on a lot of details but Morrus was certainly interested in the idea when we spoke a couple weeks ago on this topic. It's just that GenCon and Origins are kind of keeping everyone busy right now.

We already have Sean Reynolds, Jim Butler, Greg Dent, Matt Staroscik, and maybe Steve Jackson as guests. Probably be running a NWN tournament as well... Still welcoming others who want to hold a seminar or chat!

We're open to game and idea submissions as well.

Franly, the idea that community supporters or donators would get an advantage would keep me from participating. I can't afford such a donation now, and the chances of winning would be seriously lessened for anyone like me.

Otherwise it sounds like a cool idea.

(edit)
IIRC, there are also legal issues involved with requiring/encouraging people to pay to be in the contest, look at Publishers Clearing House's legal woes over the years. I realize you aren't requiring people to contribute, but the legalities could still be messy. I am not a lawyer though, and I don't know the details. Just a thought.

Hmm. Good point, though I was hoping to find a way to turn a profit out of this. Of course, if it's popular it should boost a few sales of TFT, so I suppose it can't hurt.

Maybe............
Anyone can enter 1 player BUT more than 1 will be $x per extra entry......just an idea, I like the idea of letting anyone and everyone enter and have a fair chance to win prizes. Ok, off to Origins, have a great one!

Donations allow you to pick from a Deck of Many Things type...
very little guarentee that a donation=added advantage.
