Anakin/ Vader thinks his children are dead, how does he know Luke is his son?

That's an easy one.

[sblock]Even if he thought they were dead(which I'm assuming is how it works, though I've not read the novel), after the Battle of Yavin, Luke became a very prominent Rebel Hero, and the name Skywalker was all over the place. Vader isn't an idiot, and neither is the Emperor, so they just put the pieces together...hence the whole "Son of Skywalker" talk on the Executor in ESB.[/sblock]

Here is the deal - big spoiler ahead

Anakin has prophetic dreams involving Padme's death during delivery. It is a huge part of what drives him to the darkside. During the prophecy dream he knows that the child is born (not two children, Anakin believes he will have a boy) BUT Padme delievers while he is being rebuilt. Does he know that he has kids? Possible but I think in his condition he choses not to dwell on that issue. "Protecting" them from himself by never acknowledging that they could have survived.

What about C3P0? Yes C3P0's memory will get wiped. But since Anakin built c3P0, would'nt Vader know about the droid and know that the droid knows some things and worry about that?

Actually, I believe one of the Empire comics adresses this when Vader finds the broken up parts of 3PO on Cloud City. One of the best images I've ever seen is him holding 3PO's head to his helmet.

More seriously, there's nothing that says otherwise, and the only time Vader actually encounters 3PO in the OT is on Cloud City, so its not really an issue.
