Epic adventure

Anyone have a good idea for a single play epic adventure? I'm trying to avoid the whole hack&slash, but we also don't want to spend 10 hours just role-playing. I'll be a party of 9 25th level characters.
3 Fighter types
2 Wizzys
1 Cleric
1 Thief
and 2 others that have yet to announce.

Any help would be appreciated, I've never run a game over 12th level or so.

Something political. Maybe the king (whom is known to the party, or at least several party members) or ruler of some country behaves weird, they hear about it, go checking. They find out he's a doppelgänger, but that one won't tell what happened to the king. They get hints (or suspect) that that doppleganger couldn't possibly have overcome the guards and wards that protect the king, so he must have had help within the court. They'll have a nice paper chase of clues, from courtier, to noble, from knight to privy boy (or whatever), gathering informations, interrogating suspects. Some will know stuff but don't remember it, some know more thant they tell, some want to ambush them. They'll have to look through it all, see who's against whom and use that info. A nice political adventure that has it all: fights, intrigue, conspiration theories, and wenching (well, of course ;-))

Political intrigue is a nice thought but the 25 lvl Rogue also has Leadership and Epic Leadership. He's got about 2000+ followers that make up a pretty impressive information network that would undoubtedly get the job done very quickly. I do appreciate the feedback though.

Hm... those may be 2000 guys, but that doesn't mean they can get info, since they may have noone in the country who owns them a favor, or even knows them, and they're not as good as your average epic PC in things like diplomacy or gather information. He may have an army, but that failed to impress in the past.

A few epic plot seeds, some mercilessly derivative, some less so:

- The PCs must avert the end of civilization by convincing representatives of the Primal Deity that it's not yet time for the Turning of the Wheel. Why is the Primal Deity convinced the world must end?

- War among dragonkind! The Good dragons of the world were not prepared for all-out war, and someone must help turn the tide back in their favor. Would it be better to restore the balance?

- The demilich's planar travels have finally borne fruit, and the creature now has the power it was seeking. What does the demilich want now, and what is the ancient power ritual that will stop the demilich?

- The paragon tarrasque is awake. Do the PCs dare take it on personally, or will they follow up clues revealing who woke it and what their agenda is?

- The explorer Marcus Justinius is lost at the Bottom of the World. As a close personal friend of the Emperor, Marcus merits the best rescue squad available: epic PCs. But what truly lies at the Bottom of the World, and why does Marcus not want to leave?

- A misunderstanding has brought the Lord of Storm Giants and his retinue to the province the PCs rule. What will it take to convince the giants that the PCs didn't really slay the Lord's daughter?

DM: A horde of Tarasques aproach the kingdom....
PC's: What do you, a horde of Tarasques?

Plot hook: Where did they come from? Wasn't their only one Tarasque? etc etc
