Epic D&D 3.5: The Eye of Profane Truth [full]

Shayuri,

I would be concerned about two things, first is 227 hit points. Relying on "gimicks" are all well and good, but some builds sneeze more damage than that and your AC, ain't going to stop them (look at Lord_Ravens build, one full attack and you are feeding the fishies)

The second thing is, most epic mages throw more than two spells in a round, Lorgrane, for instance, throws 4. Counterspelling all of them is going to be difficult with no Multispell.

I don't own the PHB2, does the metamagic specialist variant sorcerer allow you to cast quickened spells without taking the full round action?

Well, 227 HP is without a Con booster. Again, I'm fiddling with items still. :)

Your warning is well taken though, even though I have my doubts that a bruiser build would get close enough to do that damage to me. If he did...it would be Bad. That much is clear.

As for the multiple spell thing...that had occurred to me as well...and is a potential Achilles Heel. I had at first depended on the idea that if Mr Mage throws a Heightened Finger of Death at me and it bounces...hopefully he dies. :) But if not, his second spell won't be counterable by me easily. Now, granted, my defenses should still eat it. A Violet Warding doesn't let much through. But when you add MULTIPLE enemy mages and clerics to the mix, things get MUCH less predictable, and MUCH more dangerous.

And yes, the Metamagic Specialist sorceror gives up his familiar for the power to cast metamagically enhanced spells without a change in casting time.

So yeah. I'm seriously giving this Counterspell idea another look. It's the sort of thing that might work well in an "Arena," where you're going up against a single badass foe who's uber specialized...but in real life it starts to break down a bit...

Crunch for Bas is forthcoming, but I still have to spend all that money! :) I've changed him from an Elf to an Illumian, and rejigged the class selection. He's now a Cleric 5/Divine Oracle 2/Entropomancer 10/Contemplative 10/Shadow Sentinel 3.

I thought I'd provide some more fluff than his little interlude with Etna.

Fogshrouded Bastrion

There was nothing. There was no Bas, no self, no feeling. Nothing but the fog.

Then he fell.

The fog peeled away from him like a layer of flesh. Existence was a horror. It was suffering. He wanted the nothingness back. Death? Death was still existence. Spirits lived on. Spirits could suffer more even than the flesh.

His creator spoke to him. It was the first sound he had ever heard. Hearing was... painful? But it was important. Important to listen. To remember. He committed the words to memory.

He felt the sand beneath his feet, the grit and dirt of the beach. There was salt in the air. These feelings, these smells... was this pain? To exist was to feel pain. But it was important. Every sensation. He tried to remember feeling nothing. Could he?

Could the creator uncreate him? He could not ask. He did not know what answer he wished to hear.

-----

Standing just under six feet tall, Bas is completely hairless. About his head circle faint runes at all times, shedding light like a candle. His face betrays an ever-shifting mix of emotions: fear, pain, anxiety, trepidation, wonder.

He is fascinated by nonexistence, by turns longing for it and fearing it. For he knows that nonexistence is free of pain -- but it is also free of all other sensations, and he's slowly becoming less and less certain that it would be a worthwhile tradeoff. He doesn't derive pleasure from pain, but he is so new to this world that it sometimes takes him time to determine which he's actually feeling.

This and any future requests for materials from books other than the specified ones are automatically denied. Seriously, it's a whole lot of books already. It's a pain to leaf through them all.

Ah... bummer... considering nearly everything at epic levels and it's sister have Blindsight/sense/Tremorsense/etc. I was hoping for the Darkstalker feat from Lords of Madness which at least would make them roll a Spot/Listen check and make Hide/Move Silently/Invisibility effective.

Rkhet: What's your decision on the powerful build trait, as mentioned previously Goliaths also have the exact same trait as Half-Giants, in Races of Stone this trait allows the Goliaths to qualify for feats that only creatures of large size or greater could normally attain (i.e. Rock Hurling, Improved Rock Hurling, Fling Ally, & Fling Enemy), thus is seemed reasonable too assume that this trait allows them to qualify for everything where large size is a requirement.

Obviously I'm hoping you'll agree with me and allow me to submit Durkon the Half-Giant Fighter/War Hulk, if not it's back to the drawing boards for another character.

Mwah!

Can't post details yet...but I think I've found some new combos that will be -plenty- good for this. Oh my, yes. Preliminary calcs show AC in the low 70's, spell DC's in the mid 40's...and that's just the beginning.

You may regret having asked me to revise my character. >:)

Frightening.

Given that the characters are only a few hours old, does that mean we can assume they didn't have the chance to read the various tomes/manuals in the DMG prior to game start? :)

And a second question -- is the Mask of the Skull considered a headpiece, lenses, or an unslotted item? The description doesn't make it clear.

If that's the case, then I'm really gonna be hosed, because that's proving to be a large part of how I'm trying to build up my concept, especially since I can't have all stat-boosting items on all the time in addition to the other things I need to make my warlock concept workable -- the unfortunate drawbacks of a character with multiple stat dependency. And I wanted to be unique, since most concepts presented so far are wizard/sorcerers -- hence the warlock choice.
