Epic Destinies... Really? That's all of 'em?

I think it would be pretty easy to whip up 4E versions of the epic destinies that appeared in the 3.5E article. However, I probably won't do that anytime soon, and it seems like something WotC will do via DDI shortly after 4E hits the shelves (for real).

I would kind of hope that epic destinies would be campaign specific. I hope that the 4e ECS has some interesting ones, and that WotC gives us some general guidelines to build our own.

The epic destinies really aren't as limited as the names imply. Take Deadly Trickster for instance. The name screams rogue, but it really works well for any character who is meant to be the fate's fool type (which can be fighters, wizards, rogues, and whatever else)

The only one that Should have been opened up more is the Archmage, but it is a viable archetype so I can live with it.

Does anyone know if Epic Destinies even made it into the core books?

I spent some time searching through them at the store and couldn't find any trace of them.

Yes, they're definitely in there. You probably didn't notice them because there's no art associated with them, which is unfortunate.

Deadly Trickster might not give you stat bonuses, but it makes up for it in other ways. For example, the trickster is almost dead, has expended all his encounters and dailies and BAM! Full health, all his powers back. And it takes him a while to run out of powers in the first place; on an 18 or higher it's not expended. Demigods just get to keep using encounter powers, and only go back to being bloodied when they hit 0 HP. Archmages get to reuse one daily and one either daily or encounter. When they get to 0, they lose their dailies.

All in all, they're balanced.

I kind of got the sense that they had others but they got cut for space limitations. (A few areas seemed to have that kind of abruptitude....)
