Epic Feats that Aren't

Marshall

First Post
Which 'Epic' feats do you consider to not be worthy of the title?

Off the top of my head, I'll start with :

Master Wand Psions get Master Dorje(sp?) as a non-epic feat, Whys it got to be epic for Wands? OTOH Master Staff is definitely 'Epic"

Dire Charge Same as the "pounce" ability many felines have, and only works on round 1 of a combat. Not worthy of the 'Epic' tag.

Others?

How about epic initiative? or maybe epic spell focus? and heck, as pathetic as epic spells are, you can count epic spellcasting as a waste of a feat as well.

I defintely agree on the Master Wand feat. Master Staff too, maybe.

Dire Charge is available to certain prestige classes at certain levels (the Singh Rager for example.) However, it is a VERY potent ability. In fact, I think there is a smackdown based entirely on it.

Take a Rogue who dual-wields. He has a REALLY high Dex and also has Epic Initiative.

He goes first, charges, and takes a full-attack action. He summarily shreds his opponent with very nasty sneak attack damage.

Obviously some people are unhappy with Epic Spellcasting. I think it works pretty well. Maybe thats just me.

I admit several of the improved feats (Epic Initiative, Epic Weapon Spec., etc ...) are probably there simply because if they weren't people would ask for them. They work as well as others.

I don't really see what Improved Whirlwind (or whatever it is called) really has to offer. At least for average player characters. I guess I would have to look to find some others that I thought were weak.

Reactive Countersong. Reactive Counterspell is a normal feat, too.

Spontaneous Spell. Signature Spell does the same, only that you need spell mastery in the spell in question before you signature a spell.

Armor skin and Blinding speed. Both are done more cheaply with magic items. Epic characters can have a cart load of magic items. Therefore, they're probably better off getting the items instead of the feats.

Combine Superior Whirlwind with,

A) A Duom(?) from SaF, it's a reach weapon that also alows attacks on adjacent oppenents.

B) A creature with reach, such as Enlarged creature, through spell or Dragon Disciple, ect.

You have just doubled your # of potential targets.

Agreed. even worse, Blinding Speed is one of the most popular feats for the monsters in the book. Some even have wasted 2 EPIC FEATS to duplicate boots of speed.

Actually, you tripled it: If you can hit only targets 5' of you, you can potentially attack 8 targets (assuming one target per 5' square and "2-dimensional" combat); but if you can hit targets 10' of you, you can potentially attack 24 targets (same assumptions as before).
And it gets much worse the higher your reach gets: 48 targets at reach 15', 80 targets at reach 20', etc.

(edit: Of course assuming that you can hit close targets, too.)
