Epic Feats that Aren't

I don't think Overwhelming Critical is meant to be that powerful. Rather, it is a stepping stone on the way to the true power: Devestating Critical.

I don't think that a feat should only be there so that some power costs 2 feats. Especially if it's an epic feat and has quite a lot of prerequisites.

Bane of Enemies could also be considered a stepping stone for Death of Enemies, but it is actually useful: +2 enhancement bonus and 2d6 bonus damage.

A lot of those feats that copy the effects of magic items nevertheless don't have the vulnerabilities of magic. I hear all the time on these boards about once the parties 7th level or up your going to start seeing a lot of dispels. Well hell, in epic campaigns this would get even worse. The ability to do the extraordinary whenever the situation calls for it can be a great boon, especially for classes like forsakers that don't use magic in the first place.

I can understand why a lot of people wouldn't take these feats, but I do see the reasoning behind them

My quick list of lame Epic Feats:

Armor Skin: Seriously lame, especially given that it does not stack with Amulets of Natural Armour, Barkskin or the like, which most high-level adventurers will have access to.

Blinding Speed: Big deal. You're hasted. Why not simply pick up Additional Magic Item Space and buy Boots of Speed (which haste you for 10 rounds). Duh!

Yeah, and fighters get screwed on Weapon Specialization - you might as well buy a +2 sword and get an extra +2 to hit, too.

Of course, the feat works inside an anti-magic field, after a Mordenkainen's disjunction, when you're buck naked stepping out of the bathtub...

Oh, and the Blinding Speed feat is a free action to activate. The boots are not. (Activating a command word magic item is a standard action.)

Master Wand: Appropriate comments have been made already.

I look on it as an advantage that psions have over arcane casters.

After all, barbarians and dwarven defenders can get damage reduction at non-epic levels, but that doesn't make it a non-epic feat for everyone else.

Spell Knowledge: Epic wizards should have access to any spells that they could possibly need to know, and the material costs are negligible compared to the value of an Epic Feat, rendering this a waste of time.

Sure, for epic wizards it's pretty useless. For epic sorcerers, on the other hand...

Ah, but Weapon Spec stacks with the +2 sword. If Armour Skin stacked, then it would be a good feat. As it stands...

Oops, of course. Sorry about that, it's just that we hardly ever sorcerors IMC and nearly always wizards, so I guess I overlooked them.

BTW: Where's the feat "Spell Resistance", anyway? It's mentioned on several occasions (e.g. under Improved SR), but it's not in the Epic Feats Section.

It's not in there, the current thinking is that it was either left out because they forgot it, or they didn't know how to assign the SR from the feat.

Improved Whirlwind is actually rather impressive, as long as you have access to the Thunderlance spell from FRCS. The spell creates a force weapon that has up to 20' reach, can change its length as a free action, and is wielded in one hand. By my count, you could hit 76 squares with it!

Armor Skin does stack, just not with magical bonuses. Like an Amulet of Natural Armor.

It's not the only one with that sort of problem. I suspect an editor somewhere along the line decided to change the names on a bunch of the feats, but forgot to change them everywhere. Take a look under the Epic Dwarven Defender description, and actually try to find a bunch of those feats they recommend as they are named. Good luck.

Umm. Epic Toughness, check. Fast Healing, check. Damage Reduction, check. Bulwark of Defense, check. Mobile Defense, check. Epic Weapon Focus, check. Energy Resistance, check. Spell Resistance - already noted. Epic Weapon Specialization, check.

Maybe you mean the bonus feat list? Hmm. No, I found all of those, too. I guess I did have good luck! :D Which ones can't you find, other than Spell Resistance?
