Epic news

First Post
In the "EN World news" for Monday the 13th of May more info is
given about epic spells.

The other thing that a lot of people are wondering about is spells. Are there 10th levels spells? Well yes and no. They provide a system for creating epic spells. You build the spell from the ground up using a group of "spell seeds" as a base. The spells are extremely expensive to develop, usually starting at 400,000 gp.

A spellcaster can cast a number of epic spells per day equal to one tenth their base Knowledge skill appropriate to their class. Knowledge (arcana) is appropriate for arcane spellcaster while Knowledge(divine) is for divine spellcasters.

Developing epic spells is a long and extremely expensive process. It is also extremely difficult, one won't be able to create any really good spells until they're at least 30th level. Some of the spells listed have DC for creation well above 100. Also the amount of money we are talking about is running into the millions.

Thatcher, tell us more!!!!! :D

Incidentally, for those who have been emailing me asking for copies of this "playtest document" - no, I don't have it, and no, I wouldn't give it to you if I had. Neither will I provide you with contact details for you ask yourself.

Just thought I'd mention that. :)

I think a lot of 21st level divine spellcasters are going to be screwed because there is no Knowledge: Divine in the PHB, and no one will have any ranks in it! :p

( Lucky my 19th level character is a fighter/sorcerer with max ranks in K:Arcana :) )

house rule?

i thought it was simply a typo and they meant Knowledge (religion). oops on my part if that's the way i run it...

It probably is in error, but Darkness does have an interesting sense of humour. At any rate, I'll refrain from making House Rules about this book, until I actually read it. :)
