Epic saving throws are strange...

I also don't see the problem with the rules.

The first 20 levels are meant to build up the foundations for your character.

After that, within the epic levels, the character becomes a lot different.

Epic characters have already spent their youth and the time during which learning was quick and easy. An old wizard, who starts learning to wield weapons, simply will not learn it as well as a young apprentice, for example.

Agree'd.. Alot of people speed up the way levels are gained, and alot of people dont..
first of all, Epic levels are meants to take longer time to gain than the normal ones and that wizard would have to use alot of his time to gain fighter levels. Another thing is...
Imagine the Characters being together from scratch.. being able to reach level 20 if every1 play'd fighters?

Rate of level advancement does not change. It takes the same number of level weighted challenging encounters to advance a level at 1st as 10th as 20th as 100th.

i know, but how long time does a CR 1 encounter take.. and how long time does a properly play'd Encounter with a flying dragon take?

first levels: Seek the Den/Cave and kil lthe mosnters...
Epic: Visit half the world, speak to a hell load of people battle a few minor beings and Engage in a proper battle...

I find that combats for high level PCs (the party I run is level 16) don't take much longer than for low level PCs because of the availability of overwhelming force to decide combats quickly.

True there are more options and hp and attacks and rolls, but most combats still don't last that many rounds.

How many PCs vs enemies seems to be more of a factor in running speed for combats than level.
