Great, spellcasting...I knew I should have been more careful walking down this hallway. I must have sprung some type of alarm...mmmmmmm...I'll just wait it out. Their spells can't last forever.
Malibeem has always been the patient sort, an odd characteristic in his family; then again, you don't get this far in his trade by being too eager. Before casting his shield, Mali takes another listen. He searches around for a scrying eye. Looking through his gem of seeing, he walks back down the hall as if leaving (and continuing to search for the alarm / scrying device he knows he foolishly set off) and then around the first turn he makes, he melts into the shadows gracefully, effortlessly and without sound. He then makes his way back to the concealed door and listens again (assuming someone hasn't opened the door).
Has his ploy worked...?
You find that what you are able to do, is watch a rather fascinating and short battle. Two, dark, red robed wizards, both old men, blast out at each other with a series of almost undecipherable death spells, before finally one of the two (the one with the darker, more youthful hair, and the larger obsidian staff with the onyx pendant) manages to finally imprison his opponent in a small onyx gem. This wizard, supposing you take no actions directly towards him, then steps through a door in the next room, without worry or cause. The smile on his face, and the disposed armaments of his opponent make for quite the horrid fixture, but only briefly.
(You identify multiple heightened finger of death spells, a few unknown spells, and you identify the use of a soultrapping spell. That is your knowledge of what's thrown out. The above assumes you do not confront the victor after your observations.)
