Equip my druid!

Hey all,

I'm getting a 3rd level longtooth shifter druid ready for a session and have no idea how to arm him. We get 3 items- 1 4th level, 1 3rd level, 1 2nd level.I chose 2 already but aren't in love with them. What do you suggest? Any must-have rituals would be appreciated as well.

his wildshape will be a boar and he'll be in close combat a lot.

Claw Gloves (4), Staff of Ruin (3), Badge of the Berserker (2).

You'll probably use Claw Gloves forever. Badge allows you to charge into Flanking for CA without worrying about OAs, and the Staff of Ruin is just nice.

Rituals... Traveler's Camoflage, Create Campsite, Comrade's Succor can easily be used from 1-30.
 

I like the Staff of the Serpent. It gives you an extra 1d6 poison damage with every hit. Very few items exist like this in 4e. I just chalked it up to my druids wolf fangs dripping poison with his bites.

Any melee attack. Staff of Ruin applies all his attacks. And it doesn't scale, a +3 Staff of Ruin will be the same average damage on melee attacks and caster ones, the Serpent staff is still +1d6 melee only. If you add Iron Armbands of Power (giving up your arms slot) the damage becomes comparable, still on melee attacks only.

Plus he can't get it, minimum enchant level is +2 (level 7).

Fair enough. My druid never shifted out of wolf form so pretty much ALL my attacks were melee attacks.

But the fleas create an Aura 1. any enemy starting its turn in the aura takes a -2 to all defenses due to itching and revulsion. Any ally starting its turn in the aura stops being an ally.
