What ENWorld Means To Me:
I've been a member of a fair number of online communities in the twelve or so years since I've been online, starting way back in the BBS days. Some of them were decent, some of them not so much. I can say without hesitation that ENWorld is far more than simply decent; ENWorld is simply a wonderful place. I know this with certainty, because six years after I started reading the original website, I'm still here. Now I feel old, thanks Eric! I'm pretty sure I haven't been part of a group that long in real life, let alone online. Even without having a group for many years, through the personal chaos of life, ENWorld has been something of a safe port in a storm for me. It has been, and is, a place where, even though I haven't been able to play in some years, I can still very much enjoy my hobby. For me, and for many other people as well, to stick around here that long, to form a community that has endured through thick and thin, and most of all to believe in it... well, I think that is the textbook definition of a legacy, and most of us would be very lucky indeed to have something half as successful, welcoming, and mostly rational as ENWorld be our legacy. I firmly believe that there are not many places, online or offline, where something like this gift would happen, it speaks volumes of what you've started. Anyway, I guess the only thing left to do is prostrate (complete with "r") myself in front of you and beg for your favor. Er... okay, no. However, what I will do in lieu of that is thank you, sincerely, for kicking things off, even if you never had any intention of it growing this big, or reaching this point in time at all. So thank you, Eric, and I hope that life treats you as well as you've treated us, because you definitely deserve it. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
