Errors in SRD?

I'm working on advancing some of the monsters in the SRD, and I keep coming across creatures that seem to have too many ranks in skills for their hit die. I'm considering simply redoing the skills for every monster that I advance, but considering the amount of work involved, I was curious what other people have done. Do you just ignore the errors and chug away or do you tweak the skills to be more "correct"?

First, make sure it's really a mistake. Sometimes the critters have a high INT or special modifiers that raise their apparent totals (it would be nice if the actual ranks were listed with the total modifier, but oh, well...).

But overall I wouldn't sweat it too much. A few extra ranks in a skill here or there aren't going to make the creature that much more powerful.

Dog Soul publishing, has a line of pdf's called Cooper's Corrected Creature Codex, which corrects the mistakes in creature stat blocks in the SRD. :)

Racial Bonus is key to many of the high skill modifiers.

The most common Racial bonuses I've seen are 4 or 8 and to skills like climb, listen, spot, and swim.

Does anyone know why the LeShay lost the Alter Self ability and gained Disguise in its place?

WOTC purged all uses of Alter Self in the last big Polymorph Pogrom. Usually it's been replaced with "Alternate Form" or something similar.

Do you have a specific example that you can share which you think might have a mistake in it?

Well, it turns out the one I was working on (Babau Demon) I'd actually miscalculated. However, the question is still relevant, since I'm certain there have been errors in the past with such things. I was mainly curious how other people dealt with it.

I don't worry about it to much. Being off by +1 or +2 generally isn't worth doublechecking every stat block. If I notice an error, I'll correct it in the stat blocks I use for the game.
