Espruar font

Actually, that font you first listed really is Espruar. It's a bit of newthink/retconning by WotC with the Espruar from the FRCS 3e (I had to go back and look to see what you were upset about, because I've had that Espruar font for years and didn't notice they'd completely changed that bit), but from older 1e/2e materials that is the Espruar/Elven script.

Unless you're a huge stickler for only using the 3e version of everything, it should do you just fine, and longtime Realms players will recognize it on sight as Espruar.

Actually, I didn't know that. But I can honestly see why they changed it. That original version is not even remotely flowing or beautiful looking like an Elven font should be... the new version is very delicate, like I imagine Elven script. I wish I still had my old AD&D Forgotten Realms stuff, but all I really have to go on nowadays is 3E.... and whether or not the setting has changed for the better, I think the font certainly has ;)

Is there a font out there for the new version that you know of?

I agree with Ishmayl here. In my opinion, the old 1st/2nd Ed. Espruar font looks ridiculous and particularly ungraceful for a race that is supposed to be known for grace.

I agree entirely. The new 3rd Ed. font is a great improvement, and much more suited for elven script.

There is a TTF font for the new Espruar, but first I'm going to give a disclamier. I have no idea who created it, nor if there are any legal copyright issues over it. (Can a font face that appears in a book be copyrighted?) I just happened to find this site in a google search over two years ago, and had to root through my bookmarks to find it again. Here is the link to the main page of the site, and you can find the downloads from there.

Thanks JD, that's exactly what I was looking for. I created my own Elven script in a campaign of mine; what would I need to do to put it onto computer in fonts like that?

Ishmayl, you can get a font creation program for about $30.00 by going to
www.acidfonts.com. Click on the font utilities option on the left side of the page. Scroll about half way down and you will find it. There are others here also but this one I have tried the demo for and it works fairly easily.

Good luck,

Arrellion
