Esuvee

Several states reached a settlement with the Ford Motor Company in December 2002 to resolve allegations of deceptive trade practices relating to the sales and advertising of Ford Sport Utility Vehicles. The outcome of that settlement was a $27 million campaign dedicated to educating the public about the dangers of driving a SUV.

ESUVEE, the campaign mascot, was designed to evoke the sentiments one holds when they think of an actual sport utility vehicle: exciting, durable and powerful, with subtle characteristics. ESUVEE's prominence on the web and at SUV Safety Days reinforced the message, while providing an entertaining, accessible and non-threatening method of capturing and retaining the intended audience's attention.

The commercial is undoubtedly targeted at younger males. Take a look: http://www.esuvee.com

I'm hardly the target audience. But the campaign's lure was irresistible. The genius of the advertising is indisputable: I want to ride an Esuvee. Or at least, I want to pretend I do in a d20 role-playing game. Which is odd, since I think SUVs are the first sign of the Apocalypse.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I still think SUVs are the worst vehicles on the road, but I really want one of the big fuzzy monsters. Not sure my back yard is big enough, though.

I wanted to know what a SUV is, and Google showed me cars like the Hummer or Jeep Cherokee. So (and unless it is a political subject) I would like to know what's wrong with such cars??

EDIT: Okay, I got a look at it, and understand the concern better. No need to answer this post.

Nothing is wrond with them, if you like large vehicles that get like 10 to 20 KM per 2 litres of gas.

Actually ny conversions are very off, so here it is in US: 6 miles per gallon (Humvee) and about 12 miles per gallon (average SUV).

As an extra bit, has anyone noticed that economy cars went from getting 30 to 36 miles to the gallon in 1992, down to 22 to 24 miles per gallon today? Gasoline technology has gotten worse?

Anyone also notice, according to consumer reports, that hybrids only save you 2 miles per gallon in exchange for the several thousands of extra dollars on their price tag? Plus the $1500.00 tax advantage for buying one only really works out to be effectively $500.00?

Of course I have met people who have hybrids that get really good mileage (62 miles per gallon), but that is waaaaay better than the published numbers. So I am also curious as to why the huge performance range. Are some cars really made better than others?

LOL Excellent!

It's good to know that I'm not the only lunatic out there that thought the esuvee would make a good D20 critter!

Bravo! :)

I like Erica's better, but it is always cool to see different approaches.

'Preciated! But I think each version is good, and each serves a different purpose. His is sci-fi and makes a point that it is a fusion of machine and animal. Mine is for D&D and is more fantasy-oriented.

I must say, though ,that giving the esuvee herd the stampede SA is a good idea. I might swipe a few ideas and meld some of the concepts of his version and mine.

I notice that there is a little girl in the commercial -- you only see her for a brief moment -- and she has an esuvee stuffed animal. I want one, too!

It's kinda like the stuffed Bantha that Chewbacca's son had in the Star Wars Christmas special. I wanted one of those, too! But ... errr ... I am starting to show my age with that one so I'll just shut up right now. :uhoh:
