[eTools] Ghelspad Gods uploaded

Fool
I exported my Ghelspad Gods dataset for any Scarred Lands eTools users.

The file is at http://groups.msn.com/eTools

eTools Files : ET Helper Export Files : Gods-n-Domains

If you don't already have it, you'll need Davin's Amazing Utility : http://www.dallas.net/~davin/

The domains are from The Divine and The Defeated, plus the Missionary domain from Relics and Rituals.

The gods include the eight primary gods along with ten demigods. These use the domains included above.

Coming soon: Languages of Ghelspad. (Its all entered, I'm running a QA cycle on it at this point.)

Any feedback is welcome and desired.

just curious..but is this legal? Has SSS given permission to use their PI in e-tools? If so this borders on the same level that NWN did and should be taken down all the same.

I Am Not A Lawyer. What is PI?

Is my contribution in violation? I need clarification please.

PI=product Identity

I know that the SSS people have a limit on what can and cannot be used as OGL content. Is etools' OGL? If not then you cannot LEGALLY distribute said material without their express permission. If you do that it's tantamount to distributing the WOTC modules from NWN across the net or trading MP3's...

The difference being that the content that I distribute does not provide the consumer with a stand-alone experience.

In NWN, a consumer will play the module.

With an MP3, they will enjoy the music.

The Ghelspad content that I am uploading is useful only if the consumer owns the original material. In theory, a DM could dl the Gods of Ghelspad, import it into eTools, and create clerics of these gods, but there would be no point. These files are not the content, but rather the hook that allows one to utilize their existing content, which is available in beautiful hard and soft-bound books from SSS.

Without the books, the content is worthless. Its less like downloading an MP3 of Stairway to Heaven and more like downloading a text file that describes elements of the song: "Lead singer: Robert Plant / Producer, guitar: Jimmy Page / Category: classic rock".

Again, this is just my non-lawyer babbling. You seem to know more about these issues than I do. I'll need a more authoritive (no offense) statement of the situation before I do anything so drastic as to delete any files. Fluid has gone silent, and Wotc has apparently cast deflection. Perhaps this is one of the issues they are wrestling with.

your arguement is flawed. Read any post for the NWN modules it's the same principle. Email the authors of the material and see what they say.

I am not asking you to delete your material, i just want clarification like you do on how the other publishers will take having their PI spread out unauthorized on the market.

Kinda funny that PCGen got nailed for the same thing basically..no offense Leopold.

I believe it gives Leopold and others a unique perspective as to what is and what is not okay for distribution. Believe me, there are a lot of people NOT at all pleased with the amount of copyrighted material finding its way into eTools. At least with the OGL there are some checks and balances on it.

oh so did Napster, NWN, Kazaa, and a slew of other programs that distribute copyrighted material without having permission from the 'author'. I know Necromancer games and WOTC said specifically said "Do not distribute any of our works" in NWN.

This is not a PCGen vs. Etools debate, god no. I just want to know if ETools has permission carte blanche from all the D20 publishers to distribute their PI without hassle.

PCGen on the other hand DOES have permission to distribute certain d20 publishers PI. We made dang sure of that.
