eTools: Vampiric Races

talmar

First Post
I have created all the core races with the Vampire Template modifications.

The attached file (vampires.txt) will need to be renamed with a .zip extension to open.

Couple things to note:

1. I have modified the "types Race Category" table in the access database to include the entry "MM Template". All my templated races fall under this category.

2. I found no way for eTools to use the ECL for these races. The only item I found was the CR. Creating a PC with these races will not take into account the advanced ECL of the race.

3. The skills from the Vampire template that are suppose to become class skills (Bluff, Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Search, Sense Motive, and Spot) do not seem to work when applying a class to the race. IE, buff is a cross-class skill for a human fighter but should be a class skill for a Vampiric human fighter, this is not so.

Let me know what you all think. Be forgiving, these are my first attempts at eTools customizations. :)

edit: I have also posted the races individually on the MSN User Group for eTools

*Ah that's why they didn't work when I first tried them -- there was no entry like that in my database. Changed the .rac file to MM Race and it's working fine.

*ECL isn't in eTools.

*I'd argue that from what I can see in the template, yours came out right -- the template grants a bonus to certain skills, but doesn't make them "class skills" to my knowledge.

Very nice, thanks!

For my own use I'm going to be modifying your vampire .rac files as follows:

change race type to MM

Add the SQ "undead"

add the following to the Special/Other screen (these "racial features" print out in my modified stat block and I like having these details handy):

Save DC for Domination & Energy Drain = 10 + 1/2 HD + CHA mod
Domination: Range 30'and caster level 13
Energy Drain: 2 levels
Blood Drain: Successful grapple and pin required to drain 1d4 CON each round
DR 15/+1
Turn Resistance +4
Cold Resistance 20
Electricity Resistance 20
Fast Healing 5

edit: I've taken care of all of them, would it be ok if I post my slight modification to your files to the MSN group?

No...no no no no no

Well...OK :) Of course you can post them. :) I like your modifications. Makes sense to add more description to the other category. More info on the char sheet the easier to run and less page flipping. Thanks for the updates.

I confused myself on the skill issue. The sentance "All skill added are considered class skills." on the skills page during race creation tripped me up. Glad it works out right.

I never scrolled down far enough to see the undead option under SQ's.

All in all I don't think it was too bad a first effort. Glad it saved somebody some time.

I think I'll tackle the Lycanthropes next.
