Even Newer Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

"You are most surely a jadite as myself. It is wonderful to lay my eyes upon my kind again. I and my clan were lost in the sea, I fear I've lost many, but I am in the search of my lost clan members. Did you see any other jadite in this place? I am very sorry for my intrusion, but it is most important for me." asks Sheng at the young woman in the language of his homeland.

[sblock=hah]Haruka is also covered in tattoos, although hers are more serpentine and not on her face. I am more than a little excited at the possibility of her and Sheng adventuring together. There are a number of similarities...[/sblock]

" 'Arcane type' How very amusing. I wave and control the chaos in the air, in life, in souls, in the blood that flows in the heart of my enemies. If you must know, Sheng of the Zim Clan can use his words as warriors use their swords, and brandish chaos as a soldier brandishes a spear." offers Sheng, turning from Hakura to make eye contact with Patrin. His gaze is green as the other jadite's.
The same jade color that once shined in the walls of the castles of his family.

In walks a tall man in his mid twenties carrying a boar on his shoulder. He is dressed in tattered camouflage clothing and looks to be one right out of jungle, smells as one too, but never the less looks to be a man capable of protecting himself.

Not stopping to introduce himself, he walks past the powerful built dragonborn until a displeased dwarf stops him in his tracks and drunkenly raises his mug of beer against him " Lad, ye be suppose to introduce your self at the entrance "

A moment of confusion strikes the newcomer. At first he looks as if he is about to snap the poor dwarfs neck for raising his mug against him but realizes that it only was friendly gesture and relaxes " Aye... must have forgotten all about it... sorry. I am Garry the druid and I am looking for some work. If somebody has anything interesting for me, I'll be right there " he says pointing towards the bar. Pleased with himself, he walks to the bar and slams the boar down on the desk. He exchanges a few words with the bartender about the boar and receives a couple of coins, along with a pint of ale. " I could get used to this "

Conversing some more with the bartender, Garry turns around to face the dragonborn " The man behind the bar tells me that you might have a job-offer about some monks. Is this true? I am an able hunter with skills you might need, if you are interested in some monk disposal that is, " he says with a grin.

-''Excellent. It's starting to look like a crew. Follow me a to this table folks, we're going to talk business. Bartender, a round of stout ale, if you please.''

The dragonborn leads the group to a table that allows him to seat with his back to the wall.

Sheng eyed the dragonborn Bazuuka appraisingly, and shakes his head chuckling to himself. "Such a huge task you have ahead of you, young sibling of the dragons. I humbly wish you the best of lucks someone can have, as you will surely need it if you are to remotely succeed." the monk says from his seat, and smiles. Although his words were not aggressive in any way, they were sharp like blades, and tainted with the purest poison. The sorceror nods and looks elsewhere.

The dragonborn acknowledges the monk statement with a nod of his head, but says nothing. While listening to the one who plays with fire and monk converse, the dragonborn rests his eyes after a long journey that got him here. The sound of another dragonborn snaps him back to reality. Seeing the others answer his call for help, Baazuka does the same. He walks to the table and states "I'd like to help as well. You can count on my sword."

Haruka addresses Sheng in their shared tongue, "No offense is taken; I know the importance of family." She frowns slightly before continuing, "My apologies, but you are the first other one of us I have seen since arriving in this city."

She then slides into a chair at the guard's table. At the other Dragonborn's comment, she smiles and asks, "Can we? I suppose we will see."

[sblock=more green]Oh wonderful, Baaz is from the Kingdom of Jade too. This is great.

Boy, the above really reads as sarcasm. It's not. I do think it is both wonderful and great. We're all going to be relatively terrible at lying to each other. Well, in theory.[/sblock]

Sheng smiles. A false one of course, he never smiles "I'm already feeling at home. Perhaps if an Oni burst through the door it will be just like I remember the Kingdom." Sheng says in Jadite. The monk walks ceremoniously to the table and takes a seat. All his movements seemed calculated, orchestrated and measured. The ceremonial air this man gives really resembles the tales of the ways of the Kingdom of Jade.
"So I guess additional information is in place now?" the sorceror offers.

-''Ah, excellent.'' Patrin nods in aproval when he sees Baazuka joining them. ''Let's get to the point. The neighborhood cultists that I referred to, as many have surely guessed, are The Sons Of The sword. They are an order of warrior monks dedicated to Maros, or so they say.

You may also have heard that Rinch the Riser's gang has been decapitated, recently. And unlike previous occasions, it seems he is no longer coming back from the dead as he was wont to do. He was done in by a band of regulars of this tavern, actually. Rinch was a powerful wack job who somehow had control over undeads and shadows. He seemed to have been a bit of a cultist himself and was dedicated to some kind of fallen god known only as 'The Usurper'.

So what do the Sons of the Sword have to do with Rinch? That's kinda why I am hiring. The Sons have started mopping up what's left of RInch's gang. Hey, it's very much appreciated, even if vigilantism is technically illegal.

Rinch had created herds of zombies all over the Commons and many of his surviving lieutenants are necromancers of some sorts. And to be honest, the guard just doesn't go into the Commons enough, so we can't really complain if somebody else does our job. We suffer from lack of manpower combined with the fact that many of my colleagues are scared little girls.

So yeah, on the face of it, I really like what the Sons of the Sword are doing. But come on, what's up with that? There is no such thing as a free lunch. What are they getting out of it? What's their angle? That's what is worrying me.

My superiors are telling me to let them do their things. They are cleaning the city for free. Me, well, I didn't join the city guard just to spite my father... I can't just 'let them do their thing' without investigating. I gotta be sure they really are working in the best interest of the city.

And so I am heading to their headquarters. That's why I need an escort. For one thing, if they are doing sneaky arcane stuff, I wouldn't know it unless a spell hit me. That's where Haruka and Sheng here will prove most useful. Also, if I go alone and they are up to something, it'll be too easy to just make me disappear. A full party, not so much.

Frankly, I hope that all we are dealing with is a bunch of religious fanatics who hope to honour their god by defeating the force of chaos. That'd be great. But I gotta be sure.''

[sblock=Party]We need a goon! Or, you know, a defender of any kind.
