Ever had a player in your group throw a tantrum or worse? Most uncomfortable moment?

I had a player put a hole in the wall when I killed his character. Lucky for him it was at his house.

I did "quit" 2 campaigns myself after my character died, but it was more because of lack of fun than getting mad. It killed one of the games when everybody else (even the DM) realized (or at least claimed) they weren't having fun either. I did come back for the other campaign, but it didn't last very long after that (it had issues as well). Both of those groups ended up combined as one, which I (still) DM...

There was this guy that we gamed with in 2e/3.0. We'll call him B.K., cause those are his initials :p

He was completely socially retarded.

I once requested that he scoot over a bit, as he was cramping in my personal space. He moved over just a tiny bit. I requested again... he moved again. 4th time he threw his dice and stormed out. Jeez, all I wanted was to not be rubbing elbows when I went to roll.

At least twice he called on of our main DMs "a bad DM" for making a call that made sense, but didn't favor his character.

I wish (almost) that I could remember more details... perhaps Talath (he was the insulted DM, not the social retard :p) will unlurk and fill in the missing bits.

Eventually the group stopped inviting him to games... and he wondered why. He decided to hate me, even though I was the moron that kept inviting him despite his annoyances... telling the rest of the group "ahh, he isn't *that* bad.... besides we could use the cannon fodder".

Not so much a temper tantrum or anything but I've seen players and our DM get certainly irritated at actions, generally stupid things that a player does. Generally if we the players score a TPK our DM lets us know that it was stupid, dumb etc to have continued fighting something that was so far beyond our level.

I guess we're in a party of people who just don't like to see the bad guys get away and try to the last man to kill them, though recently we've gotten better after the first or second death we generally start backing off and if our DM reads this I'm referring to the plant horse who really kicked our butts

we had a guy who would constantly stupidly be the direct cause of the deaths of other characters. He had already caused, or allowed to occur, the deaths of 4 characters in the previous 4 sessions. (a handful of those deaths involved dying to undead and coming back as them, so raise dead wasn't an option, and we couldn't afford resurrections) Oh yeah, and he was playing a half-celestial paladin.

So what happens when his character finally gets ganked by a dragon?

He gets this sullen look on his face and goes "guys, I think I'm going to take a break from DnD for a few months..." Ok I see how it is. Other people dying: funny. He'd tell people to just suck it up. His character dying: reason to get all mopey.

The DM had to let us call up the paladin's Planetar daddy to get him true rez'd (we didn't have the body) so that way the player wouldn't flake out completely.

Ehhh...I was once privy to having my game destroyed by 2 players who were also a married couple. It started out as an argument about who got to keep some item or another, and escalated till their characters were killing each other, and then after one was dead, it evolved into a screaming match with each other that ended out in the backyard with all the neighbors watching.

The other guys, whom I had gamed with before, said this was normal for those two.

I never gamed with that couple again.

Probelly the best one i've been part of was during a Darkside Starwars d20 game.

We had been playing for a few weeks and the actual characters in the party decided that a change in party leadership was required, so we acted upon that idea. There was a small problem that we might have overlooked in hindsight.

We were playing in the current party leader's players house. So I killed him off, and immediatly all the players were kicked out of the house for the week. Though we all got a good laugh out of it later on.

I think that many of these stories could start like this..

I remember another one. lucky you...

We were playing in a very long adventure/dungeon crawl. One of the players (I'll call 'em Todd) decided that all shots fired flew hi head, and thus was an attack on his character (even when the archer and gunner were firing in the opposite direction) Todd intentionally set off several traps to see what would happen. Then, Todd decided that when swinging his warhammer, he needed at least 15' of room or else they would be too cramped to fight. So, when several people moved up to fight a mummy, Todd huffed and puffed and declared that he could not join the fray, even though the GM said that there was still room. Todd's character threatened several other characters at different times. However, when Todd's character was threatened by another character (the threat came after Todd set off a trap that hurt the entire group. One of the other characters, who had been threatened by Todd's character previously, said "Do that again and... *person pats their crossbow*) Todd asked me what my alignment was, then told the GM that I should get an XP penalty (or no XP. I forget what it was) because I was Good and did not say anything about the threat, thus I was breaking my alignment.
Needless to say, the characters disbanded and the game was over after the adventure.

Back during the 2nd edition and begining of 3rd my old group had an interesting problem i guess. OUr DM was awsome, he told great stories, made the game fun...until he started inviting his then girl friend to game with us...see at that point all our characters became secondary to hers. she was awarded mass xp, super bad@$$ items, etc....and to top it all off our group consisted of myself, his brother, room-mate, x-girlfriend, college buddy....when we started to notice that we were getting the short end of the stick, the group while the couple was off in another room "speaking" decided to bring it to there attention...saddly I was not there as I was at work becasue from what I heard all hell broke loss. The ex and current girlfriend came to blows, while DM and College buddy were out back doing the same. Saddly that group died instantly....The only funny part that I got from this was that his brother and roomy decided that they were going to watch for a bit and then they started a one on one game while the others were beating each other senseless....

Yeah, I had one of those people that I invited to my group before, he turned out to be one of those people who just can't get into a game. He would get mad if he was killed, even though it was because he done something stupid.

I met a gaming friend that way. We were both playing Call of Cthulhu with other people, and said person heard a joke, completely misinterpreted it, and flipped out at the other guy, then stormed off.

He's only done that once ... that I've seen.
